But of higher concern right now is why are you awake?

I actually first heard that term, RUD, in drag racing. I think it was John Force describing a run that saw the funny car body get blown off from an engine explosion.

I happened to stumble upon their live feed of that launch - the presentation by the "hosts" was truly
hilarious, if not for all the blowing up stuff part (fortunately, an unmanned mission).
Sort of surreal, watching explosions and all whilst the too-upbeat announcers tried to spin things....
