P-82 Twin Mustang 'Betty Jo' on takeoff from Hawaii on Feb. 27, 1947.
It flew all the way to New York on that flight, making it the longest non-stop trip by a prop driven fighter. Also, the 5,051 mile flight averaged 347.5 mph., making it the fastest time any piston powered airplane has covered that distance. It took 14 1/2 hours.
