Why do people block their VIN before posting pictures?

To quote Corrado Soprano, "Come heavy, or don't come at all." :elmer:

It's more information that is really no one's business. If you hide it, it's just that much more of a PITA to acquire by those with less than honorable intentions. Why make THEIR jobs easier???

So if a guy had say a mopar with no vin or stolen in another state, phony vin tag,F/T,door sticker which all can be remade.Thinking it could be a way to title the car.Just need a bud in a non title state.I'll keep my plates and vin covered.

It occurred to me that maybe some do it so you cant tell that their car is a clone. Say a guy is representing his car as 1 of 12 ever made. The vin says its a 1 of 600,000 made.

my favorite movie quote;
“Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice. We are all telling ourselves a story and that day mine changed.”

Nice After Earth quote!

I have to agree with bigs on this one , if someone wants my car they could just follow me home sneek into the garage and have to move all the cars in the drive way first then get it running with out makeing any noise and do all of this while running away from my 150 lbs German Shepard ,
good luck! Hell if he don't get you the ruger will a matter of fact I'd like a reason to try my new gun out anyone want to try?
I think people are just paranoid if people want the info it's very easy to get driveing down the road or at a show I never cover my plates or vin and have never had any problems

The VIN tells you the model, engine size and year.

There are plenty of dickheads around who'll cheerfully wander around at shows and point out that your P code Road Runner has a 383 in it.....your Road Runner clone is really a Satellite....your Daytona clone isn't an X code car.

Not having to listen to these moonunits is a good enough reason to cover your VIN.
