Why does FBBO think I might want to buy this?

This reminds me of when I saw the Preparation-H ads 2 years ago.

FBBO has nothing to do with the ads you see.....but what does have something to do with what ads you see is where you go surfing. I know there are many places on the west coast to go surfing but that's not what I'm talking about :D

You need an ad blocker plug-in. I use AdBlocker Ultimate on Firefox. The gold membership seals the deal.

I have ghostery, adblocker, and I don't know what all. Otherwise, I get a lot of ads.

Use Duck Duck Go and this problem goes away! Google is not your friend!
I tried DDG and well....went back to this other mess. Google and Firefox. Don't have much of a problem with ads though

Right and wrong! FBBO doesn't decide what particular ads you see but they do embed the code from doubleclick.net/googleads that displays the ads. I understand this is a way to generate revenue so i'm not knocking it.

doubleclick.net and gazillions of other similar companies have numerous ways to track you based on your browser fingerprint, cookies, ip address, location, and a myriad of other ways that people don't know about. If you have wifi in your house that other people are using to browse the net, this can effect what ads you see.

Have a roku or other device? Iphone, android, alexa, you name it device? They also share your same ip address from your home wifi connection so whatever you watch there is also tracked by some type of ad agency like google. You could see somehing on one device and see an ad related to that subject on a different device It's despicable behavior in my opinion but that's the way it is with these ad companies. You are their product and even though you can't see it, they're watching and tracking you to learn what your interests might be in order to display an add that they hope you may purchase.

There are ways to mitigate this tracking that i could go into but i don't know if that would break any rules.

To take it a step further.........One day my wife and I were sitting at the kitchen table with our niece and we asked her what he favorite type of movie was and she said "scary movies". The next question was which scary movie and she said "Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddy Kruger" (Why a 10 year old has seen that movie is beyond me). The very next day I turned the TV on and went to You Tube and guess what came up under recommended for you? You guessed it Nightmare on Elm Street and associated videos.

That picture of the ads that show up for me is what I get as a (gifted) Gold Member.

AdGuard AdBlocker for me, but yep - a good ad blocker solves the problem not only here, but everywhere
online.
