Now that I have read on forum that the drip rail mouldings differ whether vehicle has a vinyl roof or not, I have a new question. The outside chrome/stainless moulding that surrounds the windshield, is that different also on vinyl roof cars (I hope not)? Thank you. (working on 72 SSP)

There are different moldings, as some are textured the same as the vinyl top and some are smooth, but I think that was an option and not sure of year or models. My 73 with vinyl top has smooth moulding, but my 71 with vinyl top has textured moulding.

I understand the different appearance/textures but my concern is fit, it seems without the vinyl roof, the chrome would be slightly smaller to make up for the space not needed for the fabric. I haven't seen a vinyl roof up close in a long time, can't remember how it tucks in around the windshield, and what the majority of us do when opting to eliminate the vinyl roof and try to use the original vinyl roof mouldings for lack of any available repro products.
