Windshield sealer removal

Guys/Gals:

71 B body. How would you safely remove old sealer from the windshield and even from the rear glass? My glass is in real good shape and was thinking of a good clean, polish them and re-install. Mainly to obtain the markings from the factory and after market, I'v'e heard, is not as good. Not sure how to remove that tar like substance.

Also, wanting to be sure, does the curve of the clips bends away from the glass?

mineral spirts and a razor blade will get the job done. on the clips the curve gose in toward the glass if look closely at them you will see a tab sticking out that catches the window moulding it will ba against the body
