I am troubleshooting my windshield washer

The wipers work and I jumped a wire from the Battery to the motor
It runs.....

I checked connections in back of switch and they are tight
If these are reversed will the washer motor not work?

Reversing the wires might mess something up, depending on the switch. Have you taken a multimeter to it?

Not yet

I understand the wipers need to be on for the washers to work

I will have to pull the switch panel out to do that

. Should check the switch itself first with an ohm meter if it works check the wiper motor connections, and no reversing them doesn't matter. With the wiper motor switch in the first or on position you should have positive 12v to the switch. pushing the switch should run the 12v to the pump motor. make sure the pump motor has a good ground, not a painted surface try to dig the round connector into the painted surface with one of those star washers if need be.

I jumped a wire to the washer motor
It works so I have a good ground
how many ohms should the switch read?

Would be o.o or depending on the meter and setting 1 or if your meter is so equipped use the tone feature and push the button if the switch is good you will get a tone. Using the ohm you will have open line or just no reading and then when the button is pushed goes to dead short or 0.0 or 1

Update
I took the bottom horizontal brown wire on wiper switch and vertical brown wire on wiper switch and switched their positions.

The washer motor now works but my wiper switch (3 position, 3 speed I believe)
now only has one speed

The bottom horizontal connection is very loose and one washer connection is very tight
All the wires are brown..... Any chance these two wires need to be exchanged?

Ok, well good your pump is working that is good, so now your wiper motor could be a whole other set of issues. I would say you have solved the wiring issue at the dash.

Check out section 8-131 on this link it gives a better visual of the wiring connections, you can also use it to trace the individual wires to the wiper motor.

Also check out Kim's site @passion4mopars she is the wiper motor expert she has a knowledge base section showing you step by step reasons and how to's to troubleshoot your motor. I rebuilt my own but used her site for guidance, also one note about the park feature of 3 speed motors, the center section which is removable is clocked, if you it has ever been removed and put back incorrectly that affects the operation. there is a copper bar that acts like a switch and if you do not clock that center section right it will not work properly just an FYI as you are about to get into the wiper motor now.

Good luck!

Hey guys

thanks for info....I checked the link out.....I have a 3 position wiper switch, which is only producing one speed of wiper operation.
the washer works fine on the drivers side, but the pax side barely squirts out....probably something inside the nozzle...

anyway, under the dash, there is one brown wire not connected to the wiper switch....it's the one on the bottom, and the connector is horizontal....I cannot for the life of me get this connector to stay on there....it appears the spade connector is too large for the male end on the switch.

any more ideas? I will contact kim from passion for mopars next

thanks,

Mark

Update....

I spoke to Kim at Passion for Mopars....

She gave me some advise regarding the motor....perhaps the motor needs a tap on the outside of the housing with a mallet to see if any debris is keeping the motor from speeding up....

I need to know if the window washer only works with the wipers in the ON position.....my washer works with the switch OFF or ON

please help....

Mark

My car is not with me but if I remember right mine squirts without the wipers on, what did Kim say about it?

She wasn't sure

Perhaps I need to hook up that last lead, and tap the housing with a mallet

Will advise

Thx

MB

Mine squirts with the wipers off too.
