So I’m working through issues from the first mock-up up the Hellcrate into the 69 Charger.
Overall I think the fit is pretty good.
The Steering column worked out well. Lots of room for brakes.
The ECM placement becomes pretty obvious behind the vintage air box. Of course the dodge wiring harness had different connectors than the knock sensors and oil pressure senders so they have to be changed.
I had to do a minor trim to the hood scoop opening.
The T-56 Magnum shifter had to move to the 3rd fully forward position to avoid the new USCT crossmember (for $300 for new shifter bracket!).

The current issue is the wiper motor. The stock motor was rebuilt and looks nice but it is very big and in conflict with real estate occupied by the new low profile intercooler manifold at the back of the supercharger.

I thought I could move it inside the firewall but that space is fully occupied by the vintage air box and the ECM computer.

I need to reposition the starter on the firewall somewhere or switch to some sort of mini wiper motor or find an even lower profile intercooler manifold or……..

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

I've heard of using a Dakota wiper motor but never looked into it as to how or where it is mounted. Probably and earlier Dakota as well.

My latest thought is I’ll fabricate a pedestal for the wiper motor to sit on the original mount to move it up away from the firewall maybe 1-2”. I’ll post images if it works. I’ll extend the gear box shaft the same amount and then the linkages will be unchanged. Wish me luck.

Keep in mind the wiper motor provides the seal between engine bay and interior!

Got the Hellcrate reinstalled yesterday with the wiper motor in place but I had to remove the Holley (?) intercooler manifold as the rigid pipe crossover interfered with the new wiper mount location.
I ordered the Schwartz Performance manifold with the hose type crossovers and I think it will all be fine now.
I had to clock the motor 20-30 deg CCW. This of course require some straightforward metal work.
I tried to capture the work in photos as I went.
Anyway hope this is helpful to someone else.

More photos showing additional cutting detail.
I first removed the wiper motor mount by drilling the 3 spot welds.
I rotated the motor as far as could without cutting into the firewall “eyebrow”.
These cuts did not impact the cowl, only the firewall was modified.
The wiper motor is still mounted in the original place and the hole didn’t require trimming

Should work! Hope you get it done!
