Ok, so I am a little confused on wiper motors, and am hoping for some help.

I'm getting read to rebuild my instrument cluster for my Charger and I have two. One of them has the 4 position switch for a 3spd wiper, and one has the 3 position switch for a 2 spd wiper, so I have started looking for a 3spd wiper motor for my Charger.

As I am looking at the pictures of the 2spd and 3spd wiper motors online (pics attached), I swear the one in my '67 Barracuda is the 3spd motor, but I know that the switch in the Barracuda is a three position switch, with park, low, and high, though I wouldn't call it high because it is pretty slow. The wipers work fine and park in the proper location.

I am wondering if my Barracuda just has the wrong switch in the dash, or if the previous owner put in the wrong motor with the factory 2spd switch. I was originally thinking if that were the case, I could pull that motor for my Charger and replace it with a 2 spd, but after thinking about it,.... Why would I pull it out.

Could I put in a 3spd switch and get all three speeds in the Barracuda?

I'm going to post this over at FABO also since it kind of concerns both A and B bodies.

Please let me know your thoughts. I will take pictures tonight of the motor in the Barracuda and get the numbers off that motor.

Thanks

Oops,.. Here are the pictures I found online of the two motor types

3 speed on the left, 2 speed on the right for sure. As far as the switch is concerned, that's a good assumption on the wrong switch but a 2 speed switch wouldn't have the resistance wire so I'm not sure the switch would even work but I believe it would.

The motor on the left is a 3 speed unit. Not sure about the one on the right. Could be a single speed or 2 speed but for sure not a 3 speed. Not just any 3 speed motor will work in you Charger either. They have different park places from model to model and different crank arms too along with different plug connectors. Your Charger harness already has the extra wire needed to hook up a 3 speed switch you already have. You will need the proper 3 speed motor and crank arm to make it work properly though. Not sure what to tell you about your Barracuda scenario.

The wiper motors in '67 were different looking than '68 and up. I'm not familiar with the old ones but it may be that the older 2-speeds had somewhat the same physical appearance as the 68 up 3 speeds. Post a photo of the one in your Barracuda.

I will do that. I plan to go out to the shop tonight and take a picture of the motor in my Cuda and get the numbers off it if possible. Passion4Mopars website has a breakdown sheet for the different wiper motors. I should be able to tell what the motor in there came from and what it is.

Well, I went home and took a look at my wiper motor, and I think I see the confusion. The motor comes off the side like the 3spd wiper motors do, but I think it is just the older model 2 speed I found to have been used in pre-68 models. I tried to get the numbers but they don't seem to line up with anything on the Passion4Mopars sight that lists all the 2 and 3 speed wiper motors.

I did some searching around for 1967 wiper motors, and found this. The first picture is a 1966-1967 Plymouth and Dodge 2spd wiper motor. The second picture is my wiper motor,..... Same thing!

I'm calling it figured out! 2spd switch and motor, just an older pre-68 motor that looks like the newer 3spd motors.
