Wiper motor works, I can hear it running and it turns on and off with switch. Wiper arms don’t move with motor on by can be moved by hand. I presume there is some plastic bushing/lock that has failed. Are these accessible under the black cowl vents when the hood is up? Are the parts to repair obtainable?

Yes if you have cowl vents you can see what you need, not sure on availability at the store, but a parts car from a member.

I can't recall if 2 or 3 speeds ? they can be both diff problems...

both can be disconected from motor shaft with crank out of place. That's a 7/16" or 3/8" nut.

if 3 speeds crank can be still on place but disconected from main arm linkage.

BUT IF 2 SPEEDS the parking cam assembly can be loosen and that could be a problem, since replacements are not easy to get, and even less if found, on a nice price ( BradsNosParts carries those over $200... pretty much INSANE ). Long time ago those were easier to find on decent prices even at Mopar dealers.

3 speeds gets the parking cam assembly built into the motor itself

71-74 with hood up, yes. Quite common failure on 3 speed is these little buggers, they get brittle and fall apart. You can find them at NAPA or order them here.

BTW, the platform wide production change, for both 2-speed and 3-speed, from brass pivot bushings, with retainers, to the plastic snap-in bushings took place “Approximately June 1, 1972”, late ’72 production.

I have a 2 speed setup from a 73 B Body. Crank, bushing, clip and linkage arms.

I'm not even sure which setup I have, is there an obvious way to tell two speed from three speed by looking at it?

Three speeds

Aside the switches clicks of course

off, low and high positions on 2 speeds

off, low, mid and high on 3 speeds

OK well then I have the three speed as evidenced in this picture

I had the crank arm fall off the motor shaft on my 2 speed. There is a clip that rusted. I was able to obtain the clip from ebay that looks like this:

Was able to get at it through the cowl vent.

How many of those bushings are needed? Now that I have the car running items like wipers need to be addressed. I ensured all the exterior lighting was working today, only had to replace one bulb.

I believe there is one on each end. so 4 total but it's been a while. even if it is only 2 they are inexpensive enough to keep a couple in a drawer for when they break again. BTW, Napa has them.

Thanks, there are 4 packs, 6 packs and like 40 packs of them all over eBay. I didn't figure it needed 40 but 6 wasn't unreasonable either. Ill look for them at NAPA.

Got new plastic bushings and installed them today. Put it all back together based on the Chrysler diagram and the photos above. When you turn them on they go up a bit and then stop, I can’t see them hitting anything and cannot figure out what is going on?

Presumably the issue is the wiper motor, is there anywhere to get a rebuilt 3 spd one that isn’t $450 and up?

I found mine on a FB group. Got 2 running 3 speed motors and the linkage for about 100, plus my old one worked. So i took apart my original bought some wire and new plug from Bruce, took it all apart, cleaned it, soldered new wires, shrinked wrapped them all up (again not a purist) :) painted it up with rust-oleum and used KBS diamond clear... not too shabby, for me anyways. Total was maybe 40 dollars, waiting on the 3 mounting bushings.

3 speeds are easy to rebuilt. If you are courious you could dissasembly it and check for something damaged around.

NOS rebuild kits use to be fairly priced around on ebay, $50-100 rate depending on how complete is the kit... and some luck with seller

that's if you are not concerned on a fully resto with the correct finish and all. I didn't, not at least on this... maybe someday in the future.

I can't see if the motor is with or without tower on it. 73 should be with towered cap
