Wire door panel clips

Putting new door panels on my 70rr,are the wire type clips the best thing to use.i have some of the originals that were sheetmetal type.which should i use?

I just used my originals (sheet metal type) and didn't have any troubles popping the door panels in.

Chrysler used primarily 2 kinds of clips on the door panels. From what I have been able to determine it depended on the material of the panel.
If it were a plastic panel (ex: lower 71-74 B body) they would use the wire style.

Then they seemed to use the sheet metal as you called it on the panels that were more cardboard or press board with vinyl in many cases (ex: 71-74 B body UPPER)

And I've seen a couple different styles there as well.

This one seldom used however.

Why, no idea. But I would suggest using or as close to what was on there as you can find.

I don't have near enough of the sheet metal type and best I can tell they are harder to find. would it be ok to use the wire type.as far as I can tell yearone and classic sell only the wire type.

I bought Legendary panels from Dante's. They came with the wire type which worked fine.

For future removal i would try and find the original type.The wire type are a beech to get back out without tear the panel back.

The wider ones as I posted below give it something more to grab on to as well. The wire ones as mentioned will tear the material eventually if you pull the panels a few times.

I tried using the wire type on my upper door panels, and they can leave marks on the vinyl on the other side, so I switched to the sheet metal ones for the uppers. They are also not as damaging to the press board and less risk of tearing it with the sheet metal type.
