Can anyone explain what the letters and numbers mean from a factory service manual wiring diagram? I understand the color code letters but what do the other numbers and letters indicate? Trying to do a total rewire using a Ron Francis kit. “Everything you need” they said, “Easy to follow instructions “ they said....well not so much. 69 Bee with Ralley dash.

try these 2 sites as they may help with your wiring. I didn't use Ron Francis products as they are very lacking in my opinion. I went with the M&H from Year One. It is spot on and easier to work with. Costs more yes. But the end result is far better than the Ron Francis stuff. Ron has been known to cut corners, short wire the harnesses and not very good QC when it comes to the offerings. Good Luck with your wiring task...cr8crshr/Tuck:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Thanks so much for the help. Called Ron Francis tech support, talked to a nice guy but he was really no help.

I think that the first numbers indicate the "circuit number" then, after the dash, the next numbers indicate the gauge of the wire ( I.E. 18 is an 18 gauge wire ) followed by wire color ( I.E. Bk for black, R for red, ect ) Each wire is part of a circuit number. if you follow the path of the wire(s) on the schematic, they should match from the source / connect and match on the destination end.
In the schematics for my 66 Charger, there is an additional table on the schematic that shows each circuit, wire gauge and color.

Wire designations for schematic purposes. It's so you can find the other end of the wire, on the diagram, more quickly. As twecomm stated the number corresponds to the gauge of the wire. The letter at the end is an abbreviation for the actual wire color and if it has an asterisk it means there is a tracer(stripe) on the wire as well. For example R would be a red wire, R* a red wire with a stripe.( that's how the factory did it anyway, I've never used a Ron Francis kit)

Thanks for the help guys. Now to tackle that rally dash.

If in fact that is a FSM it is all explained at the beginning of the electrical section. Easy to follow if one reads. Just sayin.
But we all try to help. Hope you figure it out.

I went over every page in the electrical section and didn’t see a general description but I didn’t check the entire book. I’ll check the entire manual next, perhaps there’s an index at the front or back of the book. I should have thought of that, thanks.

Yeah that’s what I got but I have some better stuff coming from information gathered from a fellow forum member. This group of Mopar enthusiasts has been a great help with my restoration effort. Thanks to all.

Short story willie, had to replace entire dash wiring on an 80's Camaro years back & the owner came out to check on progress about lunchtime & she said OMG! She left 2 hrs later in her car, its not as difficult as it seems.
