Continued to work on the wiring in the engine compartment today and to tell you the truth I don't know how the car was running. The large lead from the alternatior was burned off about 6" from the connector and the wire had gotten so hot that it just fell apart and there are 4 or 5 wires haning out of the harness with no connectors...God only knows what they were for. There must be at least 10 splices that I have found so far and I am sure there will be more. They had cut the wire off for the oil pressure dash light so I had to repair that. Every time they added a wire they re-wrapped the harness so I had about 6 layers of tape to remove just to get to the damaged places. I actually wish I would have looked or a replacement harness.:angry1:

Add to that, I can't locate 3 of my converter bolts...found one but the other 3 vanished into thin air!

Damn Red, I feel for ya!! My dad misplaced the oil pump bolts and had to get 3 of the 4, he found the long 1, and got lock washers....kinda hard to get 5/16 lock washers on a 3/8 bolt, dooh!!! So I hear where your coming from and I lend a sympathetic ear to ya!!

Just have to be very thankful that you found these problems BEFORE the fire. lol. I'd look at that as having really good luck. Slow and easy wins the race.
