WIW A12 front carb #4394-1

I recently acquired a 6 barrel set up for my Road Runner and was told that they were a matched set from a `70 440, well there not. It turns out that I have 2 rear carbs and 1 of them is from an A12 car. I am not complaining because I got a smokin' deal on the set-up and they are all rebuilt and ready to run. What is the difference, other than part #, between the front and rear carbs? and what is the A12 carb worth?. Are the A12 carbs worth more than the non A12 part # carbs?.:edgy:

What you're really saying is you have a carb for a big block six pack. Except for the date, they're available new, so it's realistically just a big block outboard.

I am just going by Galen's white book on the numbers, I'm new to six packs, so what you are saying is there is no difference between the front and rear carbs except part #, right? If so I likely won't worry about it. According to G.G. I am missing #4382 which is listed as a front carb for `70 440.
The center carb is #4144 dated 0400(feb. 9 `70), the rear is #4383-1 dated 3649(Dec. 30 `69) and what I have out front is #4394-1 dated 1289(may 9 `69)

That should be correct. When I ordered my setup using new parts, the outboard carbs had the same part number.

Where was my mind. lol I looked at the pic and saw a small block with a six pack sitting on it. Didn't register that it was a big block manifold. So I was thinking you had acquired a setup to use on your small block.

That is funny, sorry to confuse the issue, that is a convenient place to store it, not taking up shelf space!:rolling:

I'd definitely say the A12 carb is worth more, but how much more who knows. The only possible differences I can think of would be air bleed sizes or the metering plate. Should work fine regardless.

Thanks Meep, I have been told by a few people over the last couple of days that the only difference in the outboard carbs for the 440 is the part #.

Its complete and in decent shape. I would rebuild it because who knows how long its been.
