Wonder if I can sneak in a sort-of Mopar in here; an AMC Javelin...???

I'm blasting and repairing a '68 Javelin, some pretty cool engineering for sure! And some pretty unique repairs also! I know AMC was purchased by Chrysler in 1987 or 88, which, AMC used to be the left overs from Nash and Packard when they went belly up, but, AMC had some pretty smart folks working for them back then!

I love the early Javelins. Don't care so much for the 71 I think when they added the humps to the fenders.
AMX's are way cool

love em! here is my ex-amx........ had to sell it a few years back when money got tight.......but i have another one to replace it with...... even found another crossram.......also have a RWB Rebel Machine project

I love AMX's. I've been helping a buddy work on a Matador his granddad left him.

A dear friend of mine that died a few years back had a cool 68 Javelin SST 390 4-spd which I guess is kind of rare. His son now had it.

here is my replacement..... and the machine

There was an AMX sitting on a corner 4-sale here a couple years ago. Was a real clean project for 6K that I would have loved to buy.

Guy hired me to blast and then fix his meager attempts at metal repair and sorry welding.

that one is pretty rough compared to others ive seen

If I am not mistaken here, the AMC's used MOPAR engines and trannys??? But they are always welcome here on the MOPAR side since ACM was brought into Chrysler....cr8crshr/Tuck

If we let the AMC's in we will have to let the Fiat's in. LOL

I think the AMC engine was a hold over from Packard but they did use Mopar automatics in some lines along with Borg Warner.

For automatics, AMC indeed switched to Chrysler torqueflites in 1972. Prior to that they used Borg Warner autos. Most of the three and four speeds are Borg Warner. AMC used their own design six and eight cylinder engines exclusively, but did use the occasional GM or Renault four cylinder as well as their own.

Thanks for setting me straight. I knew there was a connection with MOPAR but wasn't sure of exactly what. And no we don't have to let the FIATS in. The Capitol City MOPAR show in June always has AMC's represented...cr8crshr/Tuck

I always see the process's for restoring a car done *** backwards as I'm blasting. Guy did some hack welding, then, lathered Eastwood metal filler over the voids and bad welds. Folks, I blast this stuff off super fast, it has no strength in it. If you're a good welder, you won't use much (if any) fillers for your welds. At least the owner recognized its time to do things right. I'm blasting, epoxy priming, and fixing his welds. Amazing how people think they can 'hide' their mistakes and or omissions at quality work.

Since you can buy AMC parts at the Dodge dealer nowdays then it should fit here. AMC got a lot of parts from Ford, GM and Chrysler and mixed them in.
edit: on the hood you can shorten a 71-74 cowl hood skin to fit with some work, might be less work then that rust repair there. If that would fit your taste.

Not sure, I don't know the options, the owner didn't say anything, he seems ok with the course so far. I do wonder how this Hood rusted the way it did? I wonder if the drain channels under the fenders drained water right into the nose of the Hood?
