Hi I am a new member with a question I am rotisserie restoring my numbers matching 69 Road Runner 383 4 speed, pistol grip, air grabber but its y3 yellow should I stick to total originality and paint it y3 or maybe go with a more popular color like say black?
I myself usually say original color, but I am not a fan of Y3 so I would be going a diff route myself. All in what you the owner wants out of the car and plans to do. If it is a 69, the pistol grip is already out of a 70 so how original are you keeping it? Either way, it'll look awesome when done!
Your car, your choice. I vote for Y3 especially if you're restoring it. If you are just rebuilding it then you can modify it or change color if you wish.
Welcome and all matching numbers? I would go original....that said, like toolman said it's your car so get what you want!
You asked a room full of purists if you should stay original? What color do YOU like better? Don't paint it for the next owner. Choose for yourself. Now's your chance to do it they way you want it. If you like originality then go original. Don't go original because anyone else thinks its the right thing to do lol.
Done right the Y3 can look good.. this is a 68 but I like it because its not red blue or black. Your car do as you please but this looks cool with the color matched steelies.
I agree with slepr and beepbeep. Its your car do what you want. That said, i would much prefer the yellow if it were my car. At one time i had three black vehicles, by the time i got done washing the third one, the first was dirty again. I would NEVER own a black car again, unless it was a screaming good deal on a car i really really had to have.
Y3 looks good. That being said you can always add some pearl if you want to set it apart from all the other cream Mopars.
Welcome from NY. I'm not really a fan of yellow on cars or anything man made. Only flowers and leaves. Keep us posted.
Y3 is not one of my favorites, so I would be changing the hue. Would definitely have to be an original 69 Road Runner color option though, and definitely would not be black. Just my opinion. It's your car and your $, build it however you want.
welcome to FBBO that's a totally loaded question (you asked, personally I'm not a huge fan of the dull yellows myself) I had a 69 piss yellow I've had 13 68-70 RR's now BUT; it's your car, your $$$, you doing the work (?) do what makes you happy what others think isn't important unless; you're doing it for a flip, or to be 100% correct OE &/or for resale, to the masses non org., engine, trans, paint, rear, interior etc. even wrong style hardware or wheels, tires choices all can affect price some by 25% or more, depending on the car a 383 car is a base car pretty-much or if it was a high impact color, it will hurt the price too if it was an A12 or a Hemi car, that'd be a totally different discussion IMHFO now days, a good Day 2 & Resto-Mods/Pro-Touring done well, with good, quality parts & professional appearing craftsmanship sell for just about as much, if not more, in many cases have fun, that's what it's all about good luck
Thanks for all the reply's I also am not a fan of color changes if the original is a decent color as I may send this car to auction I will probably do it y3
