When I "binge watch" a TV show, I notice things that often slip by when there is a week between episodes.
* THIS show is friggin depressing. Costner/Dutton is a pain in the *** whiner, never happy, always doom and gloom.
Go ahead....watch ANY episode and count his negative comments versus the positive ones.
* Beth is WAY overdone. What was funny at first wore thin quickly. Nobody needs to be such a bitch ALL the time. Just about every scene that she is in, she HAS to correct some perceived injustice or bully her way through a situation. I love strong women but a bitch is just a bitch. I don't like women that cuss that much either.
* Rip is an asshole too. Sure, he takes care of who he loves but otherwise he is rude, mean and yet another bully that needed an *** kicking.
* Jamie's grave error at the abortion clinic was terrible but he was a young kid in a really tough spot. While his actions are not forgivable, the Beth character is written so harsh and so offensive, you almost feel sorry for Jamie.
* That oldest son Lee reminded me of Chuck, the older brother in the first episodes of Happy Days. He was here and then gone. Why even bother?
* Chief Rainwater...in about every other episode, the guy whines about how 130 years ago, this land belonged to HIS people. Guess what, man? Your side LOST. We get it. Your people were treated unfairly.
* Travis/Taylor Sheridan sure loves to play the prick too. I suspect that it is not a stretch of his acting skills to play the role.
* Monica....Up until the last 15 or so episodes, she was a whiny, neurotic mess. Take a Midol and drink an herbal tea already.
* Kasey's plotline with the "camping in a tent and waiting for a wolf to show up" was dumb as ****.
I liked the idea of the show. The scenery was stunning, the horses were beautiful. I liked the music. Overall, I did like the show but the ending sure seemed like a hacked together Bondo over chicken wire job to cover for Costner. He wanted out, he didn't get along with Sheridan either.
I LOVED the parts where the outsiders got their asses handed to them. The flat chested protester "Summer" and her stupid Vegan BS was a fair target for humiliation too.
Yeah Kevin Costner sort of f--ked the show up, the cast too
after he left the rest of the cast hanging (on his whim) middle of season 5
took a year & 1/2 to finish that seasons episodes, after he bailed...
Contract disputes etc., rich dudes/actor/producer Costner's problems...
& then he went to film, his own show about the "old west"
Horizon (IIRC)
Sheridan said;
they had to do a rewrite & I'm pretty sure how it was gonna' end after that...
I could see it going several more seasons
if it wasn't "allegedly" for
that d--k head, Liz Chaney supporting Costner & his greed, going through a divorce too...
I didn't like how it ended, but didn't miss an episode...
there was rumors of a new series/offshoot with Beth & Rip, on their new ranch
with Kayce & Monica, Tate still at the hunting cabin on the Yellowstone/old Dutton Ranch
that was now part of the Indian res. deal, he got to keep that land...
don't know if anything ever came of it, it's all on pay to view, Paramount
