That's a really good point. Smokey & The Bandit came out in 77'. This commercial had to of been aired around 70'.

Now I wonder if Buford T. Justice's character was based on this guy. The resemblance and mannerisms are very similar.

I always figured the Dodge ads Sheriff was based on Rod Steiger In The Heat Of The Night. 1967 He won an Academy Award for that movie. The yellow shooting glasses give it away. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do pissed off like Steiger!!!!
