Ya, I was driving past our middle school here in town when classes just got out. The normal flashing yellow and 20mph. Three kids just step right out on the road without looking at all. I mean they didn’t even hesitate, they weren’t even at the designated crosswalks. Fortunately I was expecting such stupidity and was under 20mph and a foot covering the brake pedal. I was totally surprised though they weren’t on they phones they was engaged in conversation so that is a plus.

In california? You betcha! They think that cause the law gave them the rightaway, they can do what they please, and walk as slowly as they want.
Over a thousand pedestrians are killed in california each year, about 15% of the nation-wide total.

Yup... On those occasions when Im walking & hit a crosswalk and traffic actually stops for me I put some hustle into crossing the road... Cause that's how I've always done it.... Yet people 20% of my age can't/won't do the same... We are doomed...

That **** pisses me off.
I hate to think that people are waiting on me. Those that give a courtesy should not end up regretting doing a nice gesture for others.
The slow walking habit isn't limited to people over 40. Someone is not inspiring the kids to pick up the step.

I once nailed the gas on some jerk that did that. Loud pipes probably scared the jerk more than seeing the front rise but only did that once after thinking about what would happen if my brakes had failed if the jerk hadn't stepped back.

Years ago, riding with a buddy in his 65 Mustang, guy pulled the slow walk BS... My buddy side stepped the clutch.... Boiling tires seemed to motivate the asshole....

One of the small suburbs I drive through to get to a client has several pedestrian crossings, but there's always the lazy asses who cross wherever they feel like it.

One morning recently I was cruising along, and two middle-aged fatties just stepped out into my side of the road in front of me about 30 metres ahead.
So me seeing red over this, I punched the gas pedal.....and my high-powered 3.0 litre 4-cyl diesel automatic kicked down rapidly, creating an almighty roar....which scared the bejeezus out of them.
Gave them a bit of a hurry-up....but also earned me a couple of middle fingers.....which I gratefully returned...along with a very accentuated mouthing off "F*** You too"

It's funny watching fatties get a skip along when they have to.
