'71 Charger Wheel/Tire Selection

71, that's an AMAZING Charger you have there. I can't get enough of those R/T rear light lenses. Looks great.

Here's the inside of a 255/60 that had been on the front of the car for 12 years or more. You can see there's no issue with rubbing. phptuksJGAM.jpg

Hey Wookie,

Love those wheels !!!

Are those the cast aluminum "ralleys" repros? Or the wheel vintiques steel ones?

Magnums look nice but I think 71 rallyes or winchester grey steel wheels would look killer on that car.

If you are going with 275 60 15 in rear, 235 70 15 for the front is a good choice if you want near identical tire height. I would send a pic, but I have it on another make of car...I regretfully sold my '71 bee in the early '80's. :(

Im runnin Magnum 500 wheels with 275/60R15 on the back and 235/60R15 on the front of my 68 GTX it handles good drives good,, looks great.. Good luck with your wheels..

Currently leaning towards 15x7 up front wrapped in 235/60R15 and a 15x8 out back with 275/60R15. As far as tires themselves go I'm kicking around BFGoodrich Radial T/A's, Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T's, or Cooper Cobra GT's.
What backspacing?

245 60-15 is the closest to the factory g 60-15 tire so that is what I've always used when running radials. 225 or 235 60-15 looks too short. 15x10 with a 5.5 backspace is needed if your going that route for the rear. any other backspace looks amateurish sticking out of the car. I would run 15x8 personally. Here is my BEE with G 60-15 and L 60-15 on factory 15x7.
