My girlfriend and I would play Doctor in the back of a SUV, does that count? We were 16 at the time.

I absolutely did - hell, I owned the back of our family wagon (a '68 Monaco wagon!).
I had two younger brothers and an older sister, growing up in the 60's and 70's....
she was too prissy for rasslin' but we boys had no such hangups. :)
That wagon served all the little league, cheerleading, boy scout duties, not to mention
Pop used it occasionally as his pickup as well.
I'd love to find one like it now.

P.S. the rumble of the 383 in that car is something I fell asleep to many a time in the back
of that wagon - and I'm pretty sure that's what led me to the love of Mopar big blocks to
this day. The cadence of BB Mopars is very distinct, almost a part of my DNA for life.

just talking to my daughter today and she was on about putting the dog in correctly. and it got me things about how life was "easier" when I was younger

My brother and I rode across the country several times in the back of a station wagon.

Me and my brothers road miles in the back of a 63 impala wagon. Mom swore if you let the back window down we would get gassed from the exhaust.
From that day on the old man would run that back glass down when we was back there.

My aunts had station wagons, but my mom was too cool for that! I remember riding around in them, and playing with my cousins in them. My mom drove this!

My folks had a late 50’s Buick wagon we rode in the back. Also, Mom would let me ride standing up on the front seat. I’m not sure she liked me!

Our '77 LTD wagon, my sister and brother you see in the first pic. I'm in the back seat picking something up. The 2nd pic is my grandpa and I changing a tire on that LTD. Mid 80's...

After the first repaint. Dad loved doing the black and white pics...

And it eventually became my first car at 16. Not too long after I had it, dad and I stripped it down and painted it black as seen here. This is early 90's...

Not me, but my grandparents wagon. The floor boards were rusted out, they would drop stuff, run to back window and see if they could see it. They would set up hot wheels tracks, and have all kinds of fun. Station wagons are better then mini vans, or suvs

I rode in this one from 1961-64. We took it from PA to Nova Scotia in the summer of '64, remember sleeping in the back, after my sister threw up in the tent while we were camping.

My dad had a 1971 Ford ranch wagon dark blue with a under dash A/C from a 1967 Ford. The seat in the back faced to the rear. I was the youngest and most obnoxious of us kids. That was my prison and the cool air never made it past the 2nd row. Sweat box.

Of course! And for those who would think "isn't that dangerous?". Well, there weren't any seatbelt anywhere in the car, so why not?

Dad had a 57 Nomad, yellow & white.. It took us up the Alcan Highway in 62... Then it found a new home in 65 when pops bought a slightly used 64 Chrysler 300K vert... Which brought us down the Alcan in 66...

I'm working on raising my little guy right. He loves my wagon and we take it whenever it's possible.

four kids and my dad had a Plymouth Wagon and would take us all to the drive in and put the back seat down and we would take our pillows. He would put the back window down on the back gate and we could sit on the back gate and watch over the roof.....good times
