Saw a thread recommending black SEM satin paint or rustoleum textured satin paint for the dash. I am going from red to black and wondering if the steering column is painted the same as the dash. Also most of the pics I've seen of steering wheels look to be gloss paint. Anyone clarify? Not doing a resto, just want it to look presentable. Thanks guys.

Dash and column are the same color, not sure about the steering wheel question.

Steering wheel is gloss black. That SEM Black is very good and the Rustoleum textured black is dead on correct. heres a pic.

Thanks. I saw that you posted the Rustoleum in the thread I was reading. Most likely will go with that. Have to figure out the wheel though.

My car was originally red and the steering wheel was red also, so it could mean that the wheel color is the same as the car color.

If you look closely you will see that there is a cut line on the 65 dash just below the brow that separates it into two paint textures. The upper portion, (where the pad is), should be a satin/texture finish, and the lower section is glossy. The steering column and wheel are the same color as the dash and also glossy.
The steering wheel color is coded to the interior trim and not to the exterior color of the car.

That is 100% correct. Heres my 65 Plymouth dash paint scheme.

I used the Rust-o-leum textured on my dash and it came out great. Didn't even know the stuff existed until I stumbled upon it in WalMart of all places. Ripped hair out of my head looking for the correct 'suede' finish until I found this stuff and decided to give it a try. Glad I did. Unfortunately the new windshield was already installed and it was a PITA to get a good finish but it came out real nice nonetheless. There's one small spot that looks a little glossier than the reat but no one seems to be able to see it but me. The tach should cover it.

I know I have a photo of it someplace, if I can find it I'll post it up.

I took off the lower inside window trim and taped as low as I could go and sprayed away. I couldn't believe how much tape and masking paper I needed to keep overspray off everything else. I used a spray gun with PPP paint. Textured top with no clear, lower was basecoat/clearcoat.

Tell me about it!!! I easily spent 5 times more time masking than spraying. Everything, entire windshield, door jambs, under dash. first I primed the whole thing, then I did the lower in gloss, let it dry a couple of days, masked THAT off then did the top. I think the rustoleum may be a bit too glossy but it looks a million times better than it did before. I should have taken some before pics but I'm bad like that. I get gung-ho on a project and I'm half done before I remember to get the camera.

Still gotta replace the windshield in mine so perfect time to do it. Thanks for info.
