i know a bunch of us have been plagued with the notorious plastic bushing and finding a replacement seems like a impossible task

so with that being said my proposal is, instead of finding a stock replacement lets fabricate one !!!:headbang:

i know i will be actively working on this one and with the input from everyone i hope to find a solution

SO now the question is do we actually make or find a piece to replace the bushing or do we just replace the wiper system as a whole?

This has actually been looked into on another site. There was hope that the large bushing that holds the arm to the motor could be reproduced. As to date I have heard nothing about this being completed.

It would seem like it would be easier to convert to a earlier wiper system. If someone can find which model of Mopar that would work would be a big help.

yea i was holding my breath for the longest for the bushings to be reproduced

oh and just a couple weeks ago i was at a junk yard and it seems the the wiper layout from a diplomat is really close and best of all there's no huge chunk of plastic at the wiper motor

any thoughts?

If they are the same length and shape it's worth a try.

i have no clue, i wonder whats the cost to get them remade for a smaller group? like 20 people...if i find one i will look into it but for now i guess the best thing to do is replace the current system

a little good news i used a simple metal bracket from a diplomat and some what "rigged" it to the trans arm, i lefts it running for a full 3 minutes until a makeshift bushing failed....i will try to perfect it before i give the full details

May be sticking my foot in my mouth here (nothing unusual) but if someone can get me a detailed drawing with dimensions, (or an actual part to reverse engineer) I can try to write a cnc program for it... could it be made out of aluminum or Delrin?

My wipers are working great (still) but I have to ask which bushing are we talking about here? What problems does it cause?

Does it attach to short arm that comes out of gearbox?

In place of it. here is a picture. It's one unit that was put together at the factory

I get it now! That's actually inside the motor case. I thought it was the one at the other end of the arm, which is where I was feeling confused becasue I got that one at Autozone.

By the way autozone sells remanufactured motor assembly's for $55, wouldn't that solve the problem?

Call this coincidence but one of the small plastic linkage bushings just broke so I decided to pull the wiper motor out to have a look at this bushing, to my surprise my car has nothing like this in it. Is this a change made later than 75 or does it matter that I've got the 3-speed wiper option?

I know the 78-79 have them but I'm not sure about 75-77 models.

Hey, Rebel! How ya been?
Somebody get Big Jim one of these things. He sounds like he knows how to work a set of calipers and a cnc machine. I'd ship mine off but I don't think I have that part on my 76.

I think it would be easier to change it all to a earlier model Cordoba,Charger,Fury.

Just for what it's worth- if someone does send me the parts to reverse engineer, you WILL get your parts back- and I wouldn't be against posting the program here for anyone else once I get it debugged...just sayin'

What's included in this re-manufacture assembly because I have to find the complete system?
