I plan on using an A and A 440 aluminum max wedge intake (http://www.aandatrans.com/Products/...ntake-Manifold-(CNC-Ported)__RMWACRIM-13.aspx) and have a some questions:

1) Are there any fitment issues using the Edelbrock performer RPM heads to the intake (heads will be port matched to intake)?

2) I plan using Harland Sharps roller rockers and a mechanical flat tappet cam, so I will using the tall Mopar aluminum valve covers. Are there any issues removing the valve covers to lash valves with the combination of the A and A intake and Edelbrock heads?

thank you in advance,
Mike

Not 100% sure about the heads. I used that intake on my victor's and didn't have any issues so I wouldn't think you shouldn't have any issues but call Rick to make sure.

I talked to Rick about the valve cover issues. He told me that a long time ago they had issues with the stamp steel ones. The ones with the lip hanging over the edge. They did some design fixes and no issues anymore. I have a set of the tall cast Indy valve covers. I had no issues with clearance.

I do know that the 440 Source/ProComp distributor is to short and will hit the front edge of the intake. I had to switch to a MSD. I also use the Hughes valley tray with this set up.

You may also want to inquire about how much taller that A&A Max Wedge manifold is than the original Max manifolds from 63/64. I remember reading on a Mopar blog a while ago that they are 1.5" taller than the originals which actually helps horse power numbers but, may cause heartburn with air cleaner clearances to the hood.

This is the A&A Transmission Cross Ram with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads on a 440 RB in my 65 B-Body. The carbs are Edelbrock 600 cfm with A&A repro air cleaners. I'm using Crane gold 1.6 to 1 roller rockers with stamped steel covers--NO ISSUES AT ALL. Do yourself a favor and get all the linkage and fittings from Rick--everything works as it should!!!

Thank you to all that replied. GodFather, i called A and A as you suggested. They said that if the manifold is 1.5" taller then it was because of raised port intake on the heads (e.g. indy or victor). ilm65 thank you as I have a better comfort level in purchasing the intake, and I will take your advice on getting the linkage, etc from A and A. BTW, ilm65 nice job on your car.

Sorry, didn't want to hijack the thread but I have a quick question:
What valve covers are those and are they taller than stock, stamped steel valve covers?

I'm going to try to run these stock covers with 440 Source rockers, which are roughly the same size as the Crane Gold. I was concerned about clearance issues.

attached is a picture of the taller aluminum valve covers. they are needed for Harland Sharp and T&D roller rockers.

I use these Valve covers with the Hughes 1.6 roller rockers and they clear fine. These are an older Edelbrock cover and they were dull when I got them which was fine as I wanted to paint them anyway for the Max Wedge look. Ron

Mopar actually makes reproduction manifolds as well and, from what I understand, they are re-designed and may be the ones that are taller.

A&A is what I'll be going with!
