Sorry about the bad pictures, better to follow. This is my recently found 73 RR with GTX option{ U code }. All matching #'s, with original 440 motor and auto trans still in car [has not been started or out of garage for approx. 25 years]. Before I even think of turning the key, I will be doing alot of prepping. Original black paint and red stripe still in real nice shape, along with the black interior.

A couple of questions:
If no radio was ordered, would the dash have no cut out , or a cover where it should be? I pulled the after market one out already. Also, would the fender have no hole, a hole with a dummy antenna plug or an antenna installed not hooked to anything?

Also, I have two fender tags, one with information on it and the other next to it completly blank- is this common?

Thanks for any information you can give me.

Hey great car -and welcome ... keep us updated on the work you do to her

If it had no radio from the factory it would have a delete plate where the radio wouldve gone...Im not too sure about the fender hole
Im know that some cars had soo many options -that it couldnt fit on one fender tag so they would have two.

well, not to bust your balls, but there is no such thing as a "delete plate" for 71-74 instrument clusters for cars that were ordered w/o a radio, instead the instrument cluster would not have been cut for a radio... in other words, the cluster would be unmolested where the radio would have gone.

I cant say about the radio and hole for antenna, Ive never seen one without the hole, and ive never heard of a delete plate as far as coming with a car originally, actually this is new to me. But i can say it looks like its in pretty good shape, please do keep us updated and good luck to you.. I know there still out there to be found, while my wife looks at homes, im always wondering whats in the barns lol.. Nice find!

not at all I just had seen it on lets say 69 rr prev models and thought it applied thx for the correction

Thanks for the info and pics. From what I can tell, not many options on this car. My dash looks like it would have been that way before being cut for after market radio. The front speaker opening appears to have the factory "block-off cover" underneath still in place. If this is a non-radio car, I would like to put it back that way { trying to make everything the way it was originally ordered}. Looks like I will be searching for that non-radio dash. The one fender tag has very little listed on it, so I don't think a 2nd tag was needed for more codes. It is just a blank tag. Any help with these issues would be appreciated.

Very interesting with the duel tag issue, only other one ive sceen like this it had extra codes and such. Interesting.
Also on the first tag, which line contains the U code? Mines on the third line down from the top second one in.

I will try to get a pic of the tags up tonight.

Here is the fender tag pic. The blank one is just to the left of this one as seen in the 1st photos I posted. Hope someone might know if the blank one means anything. Thanks again.

blank doesnt necessarily mean anything, it was a USA "ordered" car due the "U", not savvy enough to know if that is special order, it was built on 6/14/1973, so it was somewhat late in the year car, the fact there is jackshit for options makes me wonder if the person wanted to turn it into a drag car. have no idea what the top numbers mean.

Thanks for all the input. Will try to keep you updated as I go along.

My 71 Road Runner is radio delete No holes for the antenna or radio.
