Is there any info out there as to how to decode the fender tag on my '66 Satellite? I have looked all over and I can find other years but nothing for the '66 year.
Thanks for any info, MV383

Well......that looks like a lot of good info but I don't know how to translate that to my fender tag. I have 2 rows of alphabet with letters and numbers below and I'm not sure just what all that means. Thanks MV383

Post a pic of it here, there like crossword puzzles to me, I always welcome a new one!

Seiously, the site I linked to is a VERY good and easy to understand explanation of 66/67 fender tags.

Here is a picture of the fender tag.

a/6 = console
b/5 = bucket seats

AB/62 = 383-4BBL
C/3 = four speed
R/1 = AM radio

A15 = scheduled production date = October 15 1965
02170 = remainder of the Sales Order number.
RP23= Satellite two door hard top
P4X = interior trim code = Premium level interior; black vinyl bucket seats
PP1 = exterior paint color = car top and bottom painted bright red
T/B = inner uppder door frame painted black to match interior.

Nice car!

The Z13 and punch through the tag are related to production and inspection.

Thanks everyone for all the info. You guys are great. I love this site. Maybe I can help someone sometime. THANKS, MV383

Where did you find this information? I have been trying to read my fender tag (low option)

JFC, are you folks even reading my posts?

It's RIGHT ON THAT SITE!!!

The most common and best information is still Galen Govier's white books. On line decoders are unable to show the nuances between model lines and factories. Tag decoding still takes a bit of human knowledge.

Good sites can be a good place to start but even good sites lack human intition, knowledge and experience. Those sites are unable to be all things to all people. Most decoding sites are just a list of codes which is totally worthless to any new person trying to decode a tag as they don't give any explanation on HOW to decode the tag or what it means.

Tags, codes and code placements change year to year and plant to plant and most sites do not acknowledge that.

The Charger site is pretty good for Chargers but unable to compare the differences in the bucket seat codes between 66 and 67 Dodge and Plymouths. The description on the site, whicle accurate for Chargers, would be confusing for a new Plymouth owner as their code may be different.

cant get a good pic of mine. heavily painted over and away from the shop.

lower case 1st line
u1

upper case 2nd line
ABC
411

SO NUMBER BDY TRM PAINT
41502008 RH23 H4R WW1 Q

what i have is the car is a 318, 3 speed, white on red with dark red upper inner door, belvedere II
built april 15, sold aug 30th (i have the certicard),
the U1 means the car was ordered. why would you order a low option car unless all the dealer had wass hemi cars. lol.

another cross word for you.

Any idea what options my car was born with seeing as I have nothing in the lettered rows?

I know the build date, interior colors, axle ratio, engine, and tire size but what about radio, brakes, etc?

WL21...yeah its a coronet 2 door post

No just some old folks who were younger back then. Spent the majority of its life driven by a little old lady. Though I'd love to meet her...little ol lady drove 96k with 3 on the tree behind a 273 and manual brakes....though she did hit a few things.

I am sure it had drum brakes and of course manual but I know somebody hacked in an AM/FM radio from a late 60's to 70's car at some point. i was just curious to see if it actually came with one. Nice to know that it had NO options...:eusa_boohoo:
