Hi, I have a 440 with factory 906 heads and will use a Edelbrock RPM intake manifold. Is it best to just use the stock valley pan or is there a after market one out there to suit? I see there are ones out there to suit after market heads. I am just looking for something to look better than the stock pan.

Thanks

Definitely use the stock valley pan with the 906 heads.

a valley cover for iron heads would need to be fabricated. i made one once. a lot of work to fill in the notches on the heads.

if you look where your heads would meet the block, intake side, you will see to large rectangular holes.the aftermarket alum heads dont have those.all the aftermarket valley pans are flat and dont fill those holes.you can run an aftermarket valley pan with stock style heads, you just need to fabricate something to fill the holes.much easyer to run a factory valley pan(fills holes).just remember to run the paper backing gaskets with the aluminum intake.

AHHHHHH X 1000000000 LOL for sure use the stock style bath tub :) trust me after market stuff looks cool but leaks all over

This is one of my favorite topics since I learned the hard way. My 440source pan after I had to yank it off.

this is a picture of a picture so i'm not sure how clear this will be. anyhow, its the valley pan i made for iron heads on the 440 in my 65 coronet. it works real good.

Just use the valley-pan, and throw-away any gaskets they include with it. But I DO like to recommend using Permatex "Hylomar" around all the ports. It's a very thin sealant, but it works well for me.
