i have a 69 gtx with ac, i have rebuilt my heater box and heater controls, i want to make sure everything works before i remount in car. did b bodies come with a vacuum can in the engine compartment or does it pull vacuum straight off of the engine. i guess 18 inches vacuum should be enough to work all the accuators. can i check the box out by hooking vacuum up to the supply hose?

No can that I remember.....but it would be a good idea if you plan on running a lumpy cam.

easyest way to check it is to hook a long vacuum line from your running car to the box, with all controlls hooked up.unless you know which levers to move, then you wont need the controls.alternative is a hand operated vacuum pump from any autoparts store.(it will tell you the vacuum needed to actuate your system as well)
