Hello. Putting my rug in and wondered were the gas pedal falls on the rug. THERE IS A FOOT PAD ON THE RUG AS YOU CAN SEE. The problem is the holes for the pedal would poke right through the pad. Can someone post a picture of gas pedal to foot pad. Thanks. :sSig_thankyou:

Thanks. From your pic. It looks like my rug is in the right place. NOW I HAVE THE QUESTION ON THE BRACKET AFTER LOOKING AT YOURS BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE BRACKET WAS BOLTED ON TOP OF THE RUG LIKE I DID. My gtx came with a pad ,but stupid me threw the ORIGINAL old carpet out ( you think I would learn my lesson on throwing thing out by now ). Wonder if someone could post a pick with the pad. If not looks like holes will go through the pad and I will be done with it.

makes me wonder if my carpet isn't original after all?? i would think the GTX would have as many bells and whistles as Ma offered...unless it was an option?

I think if we wait long enough someone will answer both our questions. Thanks and stay tuned.

In both of my RR's the pedal studs hit in the pad also. One was like that when I got it and the other I put in. That one was an ACC brand. Everything else on the carpet fit fine, so I didn't figure I had an option.

Unless you just changed the floor, the holes get covered with the rug so lay it down nice, then poke a hole through the exsisting holes and where they are is where they are:blob1:

Thanks. This is a ACC RUG. Original floor pan used. I just did not know if the holes were suppose to land on the foot pad or rug but HUNT2ELK TELLS ME IT LANDS ON THE PAD. Once i POKE THEM HOLES THROUGH i BOUGHT THE FARM. Thanks everyone.

Well I cant say this for sure ,but it looks like your rug should of come with a pad in the rug after all the research I have done on this. Also. My gas pedal bracket mounted on top of the rug and yours does not which may lead you that it was replaced sometime.

I remember when I did my carpet on my 68 roadrunner it is tight in that area. Had to really work to get the studs to push through the new carpet and padding. It'll go just keep working at it.

Sorry to chime in late Dave. My 68 RR had never been apart. The original carpet had the accel pedal through the pad. I even saved it for reference when I installed new carpet yesterday. I did measure where the pedal wouold land without carpet in from the edge of the accell pivot bracket. After I laid the carpet back in place and remeasured. It lands on the same spot, or corner of the heel pad. I'll try to post some pics later. Will get my Seats back this week also. Will post pics on my resto thread.

Thanks. I pushed the holes through and they did land in the corner of the pad ( whew ! ) post them anyways so OTHER PEOPLE CAN SEE SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT. ( love pics ) THANKS.:blob1:

I researched this as well checking ebay for original unrestored cars and noted the gas pedal mounts on the top corner of the heal pad.

I just stumbled across this thread today, as I'm now trying to also install a new pedal on new carpet. Looks like mine is going to wind up close to where Daves' did, but I have an additional question:
The new pedal came with a rectangular foam gasket that fits around its' raised base.
I assume that goes against the floor, so the question is - does the pedal itself mount directly to the floor through a similarly-shaped rectangular hole cut in the carpet?
TIA.

Hello. I had to cut the rectangle shape out of the rug where the pedal bolts down. Yes it bolts right through to the bottom. I had no gasket. put it right on the rug. Hope this helps.

Yep, that's what I wound up doing also, using the foam gasket as an outline on where to cut once I located the %^#@$ holes.
Slipped the foam gasket under the carpet once the rectangle was cut out of the carpet and it all mounted just fine. Pedal wound up half on the mat, half on the carpet.
Thanks again.
