HELLO ALL, I'm Chris. First off... I don't own a MOPAR.... yet! I had a 2003 Ford Lightning that was modded and ran mid to high 11's in the 1/4. However, it was totaled  back in Aug and I have yet to replace it. After talking with my wife, we decided to look for a 69 charger to restore as a replacement vehicle. I have always wanted one and thought why not now?!?!

I am stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and have been in the Marine Corps for the last 10 years, married for 10 years, and have two sons that are 5 years old and 10 months old. I plan own making a General Lee powered by a 440, maybe even a 440+6 out of the 69 Charger ...if I ever get bored with the "01" and Rebel Flag, I can always pull it off and add an R/T stripe to the rear deck. But... it'll be a good project for me and the wife to do in our spare time. So, look for me to be asking a lot of questions and looking for some advice from some of you more experienced folks out there that have been there and done it.

Welcome. I think you'll find people here have a great respect for those who have, and are serving in the military. We'll even give you a break on the Lightning lol

Now is definitely as good a time as any to score your Charger!

Welcome to B-Bodies. Have you checked Craigslist? there is a couple of Chargers listed one in Greensboro and the other is in the Charlotte CL. Happy hunting.

Hey... the Lightning was a beast! I loved the look on some the guys faces I raced when they pulled up next to me after a good beat down...priceless when a 5000lb truck outruns a sports car! I got that truck in 2003 with 8 miles on the odometer... she had around 50k when she was totaled. WOuld have been less if not for teh many trips back to lower alabama.

I saw teh one in Greensboro on eBay. I havent called the seller yet, but I am thinking about buying it. What is your opinion as to the condition it is in? THere are numerous photos on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...320433249683&viewitem=&_trkparms=tab=Watching My parents live over in Monroe, NC..about 30 mins east of Charlotte, and close to Greensboro. Would be easy to pick it up.

Thanks for the welcome gang.

Looks like a decent buy but I am curious to know why he didn't take care of the rust issues before repaint? Best thing is check it out in person and see if it's what you want.

I was wondering that too. I am gonna give him a call tonight and see what the deal is. I was thinking of offering him a little below what he is asking.

I didn't look very closely, but I thought it was just primer. People do that all the time either to 1) try to seal and protect or 2) obscure something from view.

I personally would rather see a car wearing crappy original paint etc than fresh shiny paint. LOTS of sins can be hidden by fresh paint

Finally got around to making talking to the owner. I think I am gonna pull the trigger on this one. From his description, it seems like a pretty solid car. I plan on making it out to take a look at it before making a final decesion though. So, looks like I may officially become a MOPAR MAN!! WOOT-WOOT!!!

Bingo! This is why I don't primer/paint over freshly blasted metal in my business so the customer can see for themselves the condition of their car. If they want it primered I refer them to any number of body shops out there that do that work, plus, Plastic Blasting Media has a way of repelling the rust gremlins called flash rust especially in the humidity! I know, I am DELIBERATELY running a test, my 69 Satellite has a bare qtr I blasted Oct 08 and there is NO flash rust at all. Cool stuff this plastic blasting media, but...my goodness it's expensive...I will raise my prices about 4% Jan 1. :HappyNewYear:

Pics!!!

Here are some pics I snapped yesterday. I am no body man, but from what I can tell it needs very little body work and very little bondo. Except for teh trunk pan and front floors, it is a very solid car.
