FOR SALE: '66 Charger 383 4V, Automatic, 3.23 suregrip, PS, PB, 26" radiator.
Engine rebuilt, new fuel system from tank to carb, new Accurate LTD. exhaust, new tires, new brake booster, master cylinder ('67 style, dual reservoir), brake lines, wheel cylinders and hoses.
Engine is not the original engine. It is a '70 383. It has correct '66 hardware (intake, dist, water pump, starter etc.) The car is complete. All the chrome is there. The car runs great. I drove it to Carlisle Pa. from Ct. and back with no problems. The car needs a trunk floor and could use some body work and needs an interior.
I am asking $6500 but that is negotiable. I will consider offers. What do you think it is worth?
The car is located in Ct.

Contact me for more info.

Am I priced too high? Is it a bad time of year to sell a car? Is there little demand for 1st generation Chargers?
I haven't had anyone interested in this car.

The car is not a bad looking car at all. and first generation Chargers have a fairly strong following.

The time of the year probably has a lot to do with it, I have passed on several deals just in the past month or two, but I will resume buying again after the first of the year,

I don't want to get caught sitting on more that I have to with tax time right around the corner.

Honestly, The drivers side quarter panel shyed me away from asking about this car, I don't want to tie up the shop space for the time it would take to locate and re-quarter one or quite possibly both sides of this car right now.

I think these sell better before you sink a lot of money in them.. Its always hard to get your money back. Car is priced with some haggle room but not far off for whats been done. jmho

69hemicoronet & daredevil,
Thanks for the feedback. I agree it is probably a bad time of year to sell. I have a lot more into this car than the asking price. I realize I won't get my money back. I am just surprised at the lack of interest in this car!
I found a project car that I want and selling the '66 would help make room and raise a few dollars.
Everyone,
This price is NEGOTIABLE! If you have any interest in this Charger, give me a call and let's talk.

66/67 Chargers are a love or hate car. I love them. The price of the specific parts to these cars are VERY expensive and few are reproduced. A tail light lense, resto/repair of the dash light system, and headlight/grille problems can outweigh the entire value of one of these cars needing resto.

The ONLY way I would consider purchasing one of these cars would be a low mileage original or completely restored car that both have no problems. You can buy one of these cars for WAY less than you can ever consider restoring one for even if you can do ALL of the work.

$10,000 will probably buy you a VERY NICE good color, 383-4, 4 speed car with A/C these days. A 67 nice original 440 car would be about 20% more. These are the prices of some psaint jobs today.

The sad thing is, your car is probably worth more in parts than a a whole.

Your car is not a great resale color, needs an expensive interior. I see the lights up, is that a problem? The body work your car needs will lead to an entire paint job. As you can see from what I have posted above most will be reluctant to spend this money on one of these cars.

Just the honest truth here. $2500 as a whole and probably $5000 if you part it and can wait for the sales to make it disappear completely.

Thanks for your input. I can't say I disagree with any of your points.
I was looking at this car as a great car to jump in and go to a cruise night. Not have to worry about someone denting or scratching the paint. I thought this would be a good "starter" car, for someone who wanted a big block mopar but couldn't afford a '68-70 big block car for $15K.
I hate to part the car out. I know most cars (Hemis and Six pack cars excluded)are worth more parted out. I have more than the asking price into the car. If no one is interested, maybe I will keep it for my son.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Good "starter car" and something to jump in to and hit the streets. Sure it would cost a chunk to restore it, but most people do these cars a nickel at a time.....doing what they can afford while they continue to drive and enjoy them.

My opinion? Don't part it or sell if you don't have to. Do what you can when you can and drive it like you stole it:HappyNewYear:

Price reduced!

I have decided to drop the asking price to $5800. That price is negotiable. I am open to offers.
Thanks,
John

bad yime of year would be what i blame it on. Priced at 5800 that's pretty reasonable for a big block running b-body in my opinion. Be patient, the right person just needs to see it.
