air sound driving me nuts

i had this thread on here b4 i had my motor in my car and everybody said it was probably because the motor was cold and air was leaking past the rings. i got my motor back in and it runs great but when i shut it down you hear a pppppsssssshhhhhh sound from the top of the motor. i know its the motor but i cant seem to figure it out. do you guys think it is a head gasket. it seems to me it would get worse over time if it was because it would eventually keep blowing it out and etc. when i crank the motor there isnt no rapid pickup on a cylinder same speed of crank all the way through. it is a 64 383. any suggestions.

I would suggest you have someone to turn it off, while your looking at it under the hood. You should be able to narrow it down that way.

maybe had a spray can , or soap and water(suds) to see if air is shooting out of somewhere ????
