New Guy from Camp Lejeune!!!

Simper Fi. spent 3 years at Montfort Point 70-73 motor transport. glad to have you aboard.

I got here pretty late, First of all welcome to the site, Second of all thanks for helping to keep us all safe in this GREAT country. the last thing is its great to see you got the charger. Keep us up to date with pictures as you put it together.

HELLO ALL, I'm Chris. First off... I don't own a MOPAR.... yet! I had a 2003 Ford Lightning that was modded and ran mid to high 11's in the 1/4. However, it was totaled  back in Aug and I have yet to replace it. After talking with my wife, we decided to look for a 69 charger to restore as a replacement vehicle. I have always wanted one and thought why not now?!?!

I am stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and have been in the Marine Corps for the last 10 years, married for 10 years, and have two sons that are 5 years old and 10 months old. I plan own making a General Lee powered by a 440, maybe even a 440+6 out of the 69 Charger . .......

Welcome to the drak side.

My uncle was a carear Marine,1 tour Korea, 3 tour Nam and stayed in. Lives within 2 miles of the base, just incase his ol'Dodge truck didn't start, he said he could run to work. Never happened though. LOL Damn town grew big in recent years huh?

Well, otherwise, enjoy the site, theres a bunch of goodfellas around to help. Beware MoPars are a weird breed apart from a Ford, but you should have fun with it.

OH, you'll find the 6pac set ups are being sold brand spankin new. That's the good news. The flip side is there terribly expensive.

Congrats on the new ride. My first Mopar was a 69 Charger, I've been ruined for life ever since. Welcome to the dark side........lol.

Well I got the floors welded in... was gonna start work on the trunk floors soon, but the forecast calls for rain over the next 3 -4 days!! But that is not the kicker... I got a notice from the base housing office, which was privatized back in 2006 or 2007 and is run by civilians, that I am not allowed to have an inoperable vehicle parked in the community, or do any major automobile "mechanical work" on in my driveway or under the carport! WTF!!!

Technically, I have not done ANY "mechanical work" on the vehicle because that would mean that I am working on the engine or drive train... They cited the page in the housing book, but when I looked it up in the one that they provided to my wife when she signed the lease... it was not on that page! Maybe it is in a newer edition... any how, they said that I need to remove the vehicle from the premises in 24 hours or it may be towed at my expense... For the $1400 dollars that I am allotted for a basic housing allowance, that goes directly to them for this shitty house, I should be able to store a damn vehicle here inoperable or not! Hell, it has been under a cover any time that I have not been working on it... its not like it is an "eye-sore" for the community. And none of my neighbors have complained about it. Sorry for ranting... but they have pissed me off!!

Sorry bro. Your best case is to argue the point and ask for it to be "grandfathered" in. I'm not a lawyer [I have a soul]. This may be a good arguement for you. Letters from the neighbors saying "I'm ok with it" wont hurt your case. I'm ex-mil. You only have to comply with terms in effect at the time of the signing of the lease. Any changes must be agreed upon by you, or are not effective till the renewal of the lease.

Yea, I understand they have policies... but DAMN! I clean up teh carport at the end of each day that I worked on the car so it doesn't look like crap. I think I am just gonna ignore it because they have given me citations in the past about maintaining the flower beds... which I refuse to do because I have better things to do with my time than play yard-man. They cut the grass every week during the spring and summer months, but once again, its a matter of principality!

They get the money I am authorized for BAH for the same size house as a Marine that is junior to me... They actually lose money if no one resides in the house, not that some other Marine wouldn't move in if a place was available. Its really just a damn shame that we are provided sub-standard housing when compared to the other services. I could care less, but its my family that has to deal with the crap-tastic house at the end of the day

check to see if there are exemptions for special purpose vehicles ie race cars or antique vehicles. If so paint some numbers on the window and time and voila instant race car. Another option i used was to keep mine on a tagged trailer. trailer is operable and if you move it now and then its not an inoperable vehicle. Oh yeah welcome and thank you for your service.

I am just gonna ignore them for a while. I plan on taking it up their chain of command to fix the situation if one arises. However, they need my $1400 bucks a month more than I really need this house... I can always buy a place out in town. I got a few plans laid out in my favor. We'll see what happens... but if they wanna tow it some where... I plan on asking them if they plan on paying the storage fee with part of my BAH?
