Need Pics/Diagrams of 65+ rear brakes!

All right now;progress is being made!:yes: The axles are in,and I know I should have assembled the brakes before I put the axles in,but I tried,and said bad words.:no: Enough of that! So-o-o-o...what I need is a pic(well,pics of both sides) or a copy of a factory diagram from a '65 Coronet or Belvedere(are "C" car brakes the same? That'll work too.)showing where this stuff all goes. When they go together,and I get the endplay set,and the drums on,and then the wheels on,I can finally get her off the jackstands she's been on since November!:grin:

Did I mention that you guys are going to help me with my electrical issues? I didn't? My bad;in due time.

When I bought the rear housing,I got axles and brake backing plates with most of the hardware attached. No big deal,right? Well,it turns out that the brakes on my B-body rear axle are from an "A" car. When I went to get an adjuster repair kit,the ones pictured for a B-body didn't match what I pulled off my axle backing plates. The counter guy(who knows his **** and gets mucho credit for helping me) says "...Let me check something...". He calls up an A-body kit,and lo and behold,the parts in the pic on the computer screen match my stuff. A "WTF" moment;even he said "They didn't build A- and B-bodies in the same plant,did they?",to which I replied "...Uh,not to my knowledge...". As some of you know,there are some component differences with '65 "B" and "A" brakes,at least with the adjuster-related pieces. I did not know that until today:no:.

So-o-o-o... i now need a pic or manual diagram of how a set of '65 A-car 10 inch rear brakes go together-and soon! Please!

Maybe someone switched the backing plates and drums to A body.What size are the drums?

B bodies with power brakes (at least disc brakes) had 10" drums on the rear

Here is a '73 E Body. Cannot put my hands on a '65 TSMA :shruggy: Just compare with what you have, should be real close. I'll keep looking.

HitIt, looks like your missing the "square" spring that goes on the flat bar. Item#4-26-18 in the diagram. Keeps the bar from rattling and maybe falling out

My 66 has the small square spring on the emergency brake link

From "Chilton's auto repair '64-'71" and listed as Bendix '64-'66

Oops;one other question...

The axles are in;looking at that aspect,putting these pieces on looks like a PITA. Should I pull the axles,run a couple nuts on to hold the plates,and assemble the brakes that way? Your thoughts;axles in or out?

It is easier to assemble your brake parts without the axles,(more room)but I wouldn't pull them now. Make sure you have the brake tools you need. Makes it a lot easier than a screwdriver and a pair of channel-locks. (nuckle-busters) Your local parts store will have them and they don't cost much...

Well,thanks to you folks,they're together. Due to some other issues-like why my new rear springs don't want to hold the effin' car up,which I'll be starting a new thread about-I haven't had a chance to bleed the system and square that away.

Oh,I did it with the axles on-so easy,a cav...that's another thread.
