ok... First, a disclaimer: I know I'll take some heavy flack for the following comment. Also, let me say that aside from my daily driver (a 2008 VW Rabbit) I am heavily entrenched in American car history (own a 1969 Pontiac Firebird and am in the process of buying a 1934 Ford pickup).
Now... While I do appreciate and love seeing, hearing, smelling and driving the kind of cars that we all love on here, for lack of a better description, because "they give you wood", I can also appreciate some of the well done 'ricer' cars that I've seen. Some of their body styles look pretty slick, and I don't care who you are, 1000 hp isn't a figure to shake a stick at. I've talked to some of the owners of these nicer cars, and they're great guys who have a passion for their cars. In that aspect, I believe that car culture, in general, is a pretty cool community of similarly minded people.
The aspect of this video that disappointed me is that all of the ricer images shown were of the shitty cars, 'mock-ups' (the cardboard body kits), and average high school kid variety. I feel that in the Muscle vs Tuner debate, if we're going to throw out the best of what we have to offer, we should compare them to the best of what they have to offer... otherwise it just looks bad on us.
This being said, I am the first to call out or rip on a round town ricer. The shitty bolt on wings, non functional hood scoops, neon lights and the like crack me up. In my mind, if you're going to talk the talk, your car should walk the walk.
Ok, now lay it on me!
