i have a 67 charger and yesterday the rotating headlights started working. They worked a good fifteen times and then i flipped the headlight hold open switch and now they dont return. i have crossed the switch, i have tried crossing the wires, but no luck. any thoughts?

66 & 67 Charger rotating headlites are a PIA as they have micro switches on each headlight to operate them independently from each other, Get out your volt meter and a Chrysler service manual and see what circuit is dead, since neither headlight is returning I would suggest the main headlight switch or relay, maybe even a bad hold open switch?. BE CAREFUL feeling around under there as the electroluminescent dash gauges use a DC converter and it will light you up! Patience is the key with the headlamps.

I have checked the relays. They are perfect. I have checked the hold open switch. It is perfect. Is there a ground wire somewhere that is missing that i cant find or something. This is so annoying considering that the headlights were so cool when they worked.

Try manually rotating the headlights off the micro switches(mounted near the headlamps) and see what happens. Did you check the main headlight switch itself?

I understand your frustration completely, I spent many hours on the headlights and dash on one of Frederick Dodges 66 Charger I restored.

They ARE AWESOME when they WORK right!:)

Hopefully you have a service manual and a grasp of how circuits work before you begin crossing wires, otherwise you can end up doing more damage than when you began...just a thought

I got the headlights to work today, it was the foward wiring junction and it wasn't getting a good contact.
