took the front end apart (totally). Now it's getting sand blasted down to bare metal. What to do after it's done? paint color with rattle can or clear coat to keep it nice and shiny metal color? your thoughts and pics are greatly appreciated.

Personally, I wouldn't waste your time with rattle can after spending the time and money to have it blasted. I would either have it powder coated or find a good single stage enamel to shoot on it. But, it's your car and you should do whatever fits your vision of it.

Paint them with a good epoxy primer & a base coat clear coat quality paint, Argent/Gray is a great color...

I've been in the paint and body business since '91 and have painted plenty of both and have seen what time does to both. I agree with the epoxy primer, but would use a good single stage on your K-frame and miscellanious suspension parts if you don't powder coat them.

Also I wouldn't let anyone talk you into DTM (direct to metal), it is easier, and cheaper, but it doesn't last like epoxy and a decent single stage.

I wouldn't go with base clear as it gets too heavy and chips easier during assembly and whenever you work on it.

For equipment, trailers and various things that are always subject to the elements the single stage paint has far outlasted the base/clear on many of my own projects.

I would save the base/clear for your final overall body.

Powder coat like I did.
Some parts I painted "cast-blast" from Eastwood. Steering box (not shown) gets painted Eastwoods' "cast-blast" along with the tie-rod ends.

I have to say powder coating for durability and looks...
