undetcarriage color?

Can anyone tell me what color the undercarriage of a b body was, was it painted the same color as the body or was it painted black or maybe something else?

Originally, if restored to "as delivered" without customer requested undercoating, the bottom of the car is in primer, as the rest of the shell before paint, and when the body is painted, a bunch of color made it underneath, some cars more than others, some years more than others. When the bottoms of the rocker edges, wheel lips and lower qtrs/rear valance are shot, etc... a great deal of color ends up underneath. It will vary greatly between each survivor car you look at.

Popular these days is to shoot the entire bottom in body color, which is more eye appealing, but is not exactly "correct" even though 80% of the bottom got color overspray

Thanks for the info and pics, I think it looks great to see the matching car and undercarriage paint, I think that's the way I'll go.

this is a pic of Gene Lewis' Daytona; that is the way how i want to get my car painted; we will see next monday, then she is going into the paintbooth.
