hi guys,,,got a few questions about the new belvy.

1. my parking lights work in the front......but when i turn on the head lights....they go out.....the turn signals work with the head lights off....on....and just the parking lights on.

my question is ,,,are they supposed to work like that?

2. belvy needs a new gas tank. it leaks....the car is originally a 273,,,but now has a 440 with a hemi cam. what size gas line should i use to feed this monster.....3/8?... as of now there is an electric fuel pump on it and its OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD....but its going thru the mechanical fuel pump....( weird...i never seen this set up b4 ).... i want to lose the electric pump...and just have a mechanical one...im guessing i need a high volume fuel pump.....right? forgive me but i have not been into the high performance stuff since the early 80's and im sure alot has changed since then .

3. i gotta fix the horn...i need to remove the steering wheel.....HOWWWWWWWWWW does the chrome ring come off?...i think i gotta twist it but im not sure.

thanx guys!

The parking lights are working correct.
I used the 3/8 line on my 66 with a built 440 with a mech carter fuel pump from mancini racing and it hasn't ran out of fuel yet.

To remove the horn ring apply upward pressure below the horizontal hornring frame at the 3:00 position, at the same time push down at the 9:00 position. The ring will turn counterclockwise. The ring is held on by 3 tabs in the center of the ring, the tab have a little bit of spring in them and they need to unlock before you can remove the ring. I sprayed some WD40 under the center of the ring, let it penetrate the I banged a couple of times with a rubber mallet to unlock the tabs. Be patient it will work.

The horn ring unscrews with 1/4 turn counterclockwise and lifts off. Under it are the turn signal and horn contacts.CARTER Mechanical Fuel Pump part # 2495528 high performance.

Try to find a quality pickup/sending unit for the new gas tank. The repop one I put in lasted 6 months before the gauge stopped working. I am pretty sure the float sank and always reads empty. Haven't got around to replacing that yet.

Welcome again the the land of 66-67s.

The front parking lamps are working correctly.

As for the size of the line. You'll get a lot of opinions, but the 5/16 with standard pump will feed a lot of fuel to the motor. One guy in the Coronet Registry was running into the 11's with a 5/16 line. It's your call depending on what you want to do, but you'll have to get fittings for the HP pump and change the line. Could be a lot of work for not a lot of reason. My suggestion would be to keep it stock and simple, but you may have plans I'm not aware of.

I got tired of all those cheap BS floats going bad on Mopars and other brands. The last one i threw the float away and wire tied a Holley float to the arm. It's held up the longest.
