wiring problems

in need of a little help, my battery hasnt been staying charged and i think that the problem has to do with my alternator, ive looked at wiring schematics but my harness have so many slices that wire colors dont match, it shows that only two wires go to it but i have three going to it, if any one can help me with which wires go where or maybe even sum pics that would be awesome

Did you take the alt down to the auto parts store and have them test it? Follow the wiring diagram even if you have to open up the harness to trace the wires out and make sure they are going to the correct spots.

Third wire may have just been a tap for 12 volts or something.

yea i took it down bt they said it was bad im trying to figure out the wiring first because im afraid im gonna mess up another alternator, some1 told me i could hook up the hot wire from the alt directly to the battery, do you no if it will work
