I smoke a pipe and try to be respectful of people, but right now it is getting out of hand. When you are outside away from a building and people complain, one of these days I am going to shove my fist down somebody's throat. Where I live we have swimming pools and it use to be that you cannot smoke in the pool or 4 feet around it now they put up a notice that says you cannot smoke within the pool area. I think we are becoming a nation of wimps and am getting tired of non-smokers. By the way I am 74 years old and can probably outrun most of you.:angryfire:

Hey I'm an ex-smoker, I can relate, when they made it illegal to smoke in bars/lounges or restaurants at the old Golf club I use to belong to, I was really pissed, but I did quit eventually, I usually smoked cigars, sometimes cigarettes, when I was out on the course & didn't have a stoggy... I'm so sick of the nanny state ****, I understand it completely, but don't like it either... Yes we are becoming a nation of pussies & tea totaling wimps, with way too many govt. regs. & laws for everyday stuff now, you name it there is some law banning it now, as long as someone who smokes is respectful, to others who don't smoke, I personally don't care, especially outside, it's there choice to smoke, I still like the smell of some cigars & most pipes... Please don't turn this into a political deal, not my intentions...

Tobacco is also good for the economy in lots and lots of other ways too. Thousands of surgeons are needed to remove cancerous lungs, cancer eaten throats, tumors on vocal cords and cancer laden tongues. Tobacco also keeps heart surgeons in business and I'm sure the nurses, physicians assistants and others that work in the cancer ward love tobacco...or maybe not. Maybe they would prefer to spend their time and energy attempting to save those who care about their health and the health of those around them instead of working on people who are slowly killing themselves one cancer stick at a time.

Another one is the people who are 100 lbs overweight talking about smoking. DAHH People do not realize that one of the reasons so many people are overweight is they stopped smoking and started eating to replace it.

Everyone knows that smoking is not good for you but I do believe it is one's right to decide for themselves if they want to smoke, drink large sodas, eat fried chicken or jump off a darn 10 story building if they so desire - as long as their actions do not force an effect on others. I used to smoke, quit about 5-6 years ago and have no intentions of ever going back. I did it to improve my health but since then have gained 40 lbs so I don't think I accomplished much. I no longer like the smell of smoke, especially on a person or lingering in a confined area but I also don't like the smell of strong purfumes, farts or body odor. As long as I have to option of leaving an unpleasant odor I don't think it needs to be regulated by laws. Nothing wrong with a business having a smoking section that is isolated and ventilated. If they don't do it right and I have to smell the smoke I just won't be back. Everyone laughed years back when those for smokers rights were saying that if the government were allowed to ban smoking it would not end there. Soon they would be banning other aspects of peoples private lives. Well I guess they were right - now it has moved to banning large soft drinks, snack foods in schools, etc...

I quit drinking long ago and quit smoking last october [after smoking for 42 years] the urge to have a smoke is forever present,but i am not gonna tell folks what to do [ex smokers are the worst] most of my coworkers are smokers and i stand there with them. I beleve that every thing you do in your life you chose to do, don't blame others for your choices and sueing companys for deaths caused by their products [that are not good for you] should be thrown out of court. The busybodys in this country should find another hobby to keep them occupied. Benji i suppose your prolife too?

People ask me why I smoke and I say I enjoy it, lately I do it it piss off the health nuts. Another thing is I have never taken any illegal drugs in my life, at least with smoking I know what I am doing. Also now people to relax don't smoke but take drugs, just watch TV. Also I love the people that think if you smoke you are going to die a horrible death, well there is alot others ways to die a horrible death.

Pro-life? I must admit the only alternative to being pro-life is being pro-death. My youngest son and his wife adopted a (white) baby girl at 12 minutes old. 85% of all abortions are performed on African American babies, but of course this isn't ethnic cleansing.

What I stated about surgeons and the medical profession is absolutely 100% correct, tobacco users keeps them quite busy.

My doctor says that since I am 6 feet 2 inches tall I should weigh no more than 200 pounds. Since I weigh 201 pounds I've really been struggling for a week to lose that one pound.

And i congradulate any one that could provide a loving home for unwanted children, but there are far too many that end up in an abusive home or foster care. I'm pro choice and i don't consider any clinic that performs that service "murders". In case folks that feel that way have not been payin attention a good percentage of those abortions are done for women who have drug addictions or are very free with their bodys and if they were not performed us citizens in this country would be paying far more in taxes than we are now. And your absolutly correct on the medical profession if we all ate healthy and did everything that is good for us they would loose a lot of busness. I'm with ya on my health doctor told me i should quit smoking cause of my colesteral so i did and yep you guessed it i only came down a few points now i eat all the wrong stuff and i'm a little overweight [6 foot 215#] gotta make another appt. cant wait [i go to the V.A.]

Ya know, any one of us go wake up dead. If smoking is enjoyable to you, I say do it. If you like the adult beverages and want to drink til ya pass out at home, do it. You like having sex 12 times a day, either by yourself or with some one, do it. You like a certain brand of soda and drink a 12pack daily, do it. You like to have a full cup or mug of coffee in and all day, do it. Bottom line is the minute we are born, we start dying, so live your life to fullest (within the law of course) and enjoy it cause it wont last forever. And yes, doctors are kept in employment because of the choices we make, so fire it, drink it in, rub it off, whatever, the doctors are doing the same.

I smoke a couple of cigs a day (literally, two) out in the back yard only, and got to that number by giving up the fight about smoking in public. What finally got to me was a little girl in Chicago when I was standing near a few dozen people at a red light, and I had a lit cig cupped in my hand. She started coughing and said to her mom, "I can't breathe" in a voice like I was murdering her. If looks could kill I would've been stabbed by everyone there. At that point it didn't matter who was right or wrong anymore; I was the only guy with a cigarette and didn't want to feel like a scumbag anymore. Now I don't even think about smoking during the stretch between 7am and 10pm.

God did i hate that i wished i had a trunk of oscars to give non smokers for their performances around smokers. I got the attitude after trying to be respectful and they still complain of f--k ya you don't like it you move.
