Well I have finally started on getting the car ready for the body shop. Here are some pics and I will keep you updated as things get done. This fourm is very inspirational. Thanks to all the people that post their projects and hopefully my project will inspire somebody else. My intentions are to have the car remain as stock as possible. It will have the same paint scheme with the vinyl top. The car is a 383 auto post car with the spring special package. I have the parts for air grabber and will put it on the car but it did not have the air grabber option. Hope you enjoy the pics to follow for the next year(I hope). Thanks.

Brian

So was that god that lowered down a hoist to pull the engine for ya? Wow...you don't mess around man.

just be carefull and take your time removing the glass.

Truck crane or R/T crane would be my guess?Have a buddy help with the back glass, work a piece of piano wire around it.Front glass is a piece of cake, just cut the seal away with a utility knife. Then bury the knife around the edge of the glass all the way around.

Looks like a nice project you have there, keep the pics coming. Are you staying with the 2 speed wipers? Air grabber cars came with 3 speed-just thinking out loud.

Good point Bill! Better than him finding out once everything is coming together and the air grabber system doesn't clear it. I'd ditch the plastic fuel filter idea hanging out by your exhaust manifold as well.

1969 Y2 Yellow Roadrunner

My 69 RR left the factory Y2 and the owner before me said it was painted a Vipor Yellow color from mid 90's.. I bought some touch up paint but, it is not correct the Vipor Yellow has more of a Mustard tone to it...I would of kept it Y2 ..Other than that I have kept it stock ...Enjoy your Ride Rick

Great info guys. I did not know that about the wipers. The fuel line is pretty hacked up. I will be replacing them too. Thanks again for the comments.

Bye Bye Birdie.

Well its been a while. I have finally had time to finish getting the car ready for the body shop. Here are some pics of the car on the trailer. I dropped it off this morning and had to return to gather more parts to bring to the shop (quarters, trunk floor, etc.) and when I returned to the shop 45 mins later they had already started to work on it. Its exciting but also makes me nervous at the same time. Anyways I will keep the pics coming as I will be visiting the shop weekly... for there required donation.

Nice to see another y2 . I to am going with y2 sunfire yellow on my build also. Looks like you got a good start on it already.

It will be cool to see pictures of you bringing it back home in nice shiny paint.

I am found of the pale yellow because my uncle had one too w/ a black hard top & black gut. & torq-thrust d wheels. It was a seventies street machine; *** in the air, loud pipes , funky rectangular pinstrip job covering the trunk lid! Warped my mind. I still get reminded of that car if i get a wiff of green pine tree air fresheners mixed with Kool cigarette smoke!

Thanks for the comments guys. I stopped at the shop today to pick up some parts that were removed from the car and they had it up on the rotisserie already. Here are some pics of the car and the rust in the doors and the trunk.
