440 parts lots 80.00 he found crack in block
are 452 heads any good for a 451 build,
Thanks all for the help.

First 2 aren't bad I wouldn't let my 8 3/4 out my charger go for less then $850

so the 8.75 he will let go fo 400 no less

400 is a good deal for a 8 3/4 sure grip the 72 trans isn't a bad price long as its for a big block

I've never paid more than $75 for a 727. They are everywhere. I just bought a 727B for $50, and it came with a drive shaft.

8 3/4 4.11 posi is chevy talk , i would want to see whats really in it. a 4.10 sure grip would be more like it , if thats whats in it , that wouldnt be a bad deal. the transmissions are way overpriced if they havent been rebuilt.

I haven't either bruzzilla but he is in Canada and yes presumeing rebuild

The yellow "bracket" is a traction bar, and you should have two of them. They were cool back in the day, but unnecessary.

So if no difference I can take them off, what about the rear end,is it a 8 3/4 axle, Thanks

yes its an 8 3/4. thats a nice stack of leaf springs too. with any luck, the gear ratio tag may still be on one of the mounting studs for gear set.

I'm probably going to put a set on my '74. They are unnecessary but they sure do still look cool. ;)

well guys no tag on bolt for gearing so how can I check, open it up hmmmmmmmm

Old 60's & 70's technology, Mainly for, If the car had a tendency to spring wrap or to wheel hop, very common on leaf spring cars, under hard acceleration, they were very useful, extremely cheap & easy to install... Also the point of contact in the front of "traction bars" is supposed to be as close to the front spring eye mount as possible, the farther back it is, the more spring wrap & less effective or more spring arch under power, they will become less effective or useful...

Jack the rear of car up in air..count how many times the drive shaft spins vs the rear tire...a little more than 4 turns of the shaft to the tire is 4;11...a little less is 3:91....and so on...
