Where were you the year your car was born?

High school for me... still liked(mopars) then too!

Just starting junior high school, and going to my local library every week to read Car Craft, Motor Trend, and Hot Rod. And sneakin' into my dad's closet to "read" a couple of different kinds of magazines....

And what were you doing that year?

1967 Brooklyn N.Y. Junior High school... Playing games Outside.....waiting for the parents call to come home......

You started it ..So Jessipup what's your story.......

let me see Sept 1968, 4th grade 9 y/o @ Clayton Valley Elementary School, Concord Calif. living with Mom & Step dad Bob, in Cobblestone Ct., Cantaberry Village, probably terrorizing the neighbors or playing baseball, jumping garbage cans on my Schwinn Green Pee 5 spd bike {dad had to re-weld the cracked frame several times}, or maybe playing on my Go-cart or Taco 22 Mini Bike, or maybe taking any of them apart, playing Pe-Wee or Pop Warner Football, going with Step dad Bob, to many race tracks, all over the west coast, leaning over fenders, learning how to work on cool drag cars, handing dad wrenches, polishing the wheels...LOL....

In 1968 I was 10, in 5th grade. Gas was 34 cents a gal. I was playing little league baseball, made tree forts, jumped trash cans on my 20" banana seat bike. Used to play army/war games dug foxholes, had real cool toy guns.(like the johnny 7) I remember the Kennedy funeral, vietnam war protests. Grew up not far from where I live now in western ma.

The only old car I have now is a 66 Belvedere. My first car was also a 66 Belvedere. It was bought by my sister in the spring of 66. It was a demo from the local dealer and then dad owned it them me in 69. I was 15 and doing all I could to stay out of jail lol. In 1980, I bought a 70 Challenger 383 4 bbl and owned it for nearly 10 years before I ever checked the numbers and found that it was built on my birthday...May 8th. Kept it for another 8 years before deciding to sell it. It was still wearing it's original paint and still looked new. Sold it for 5500 in around 97....

My dad was 20 when he bought the 68 Bee in 1970 and I was not even a thought yet. Three years later I was here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad has passed but we had great times with this car and hope to have some with my son. Thanks Dad
