Sorry Nacho friend but 71 has its own wiper switch. 72/4 the switch has an index knotch so the switch only goes in one way. 71 does not. So a 71 switch will fit 72/4 cluster but the 72/4 switch will not fit the 71 cluster without knotching the hole. This is also for 72 build before 9/2/71.
Also all non-Rallye wiper switches are alot longer than the Rallye switch.
yes, all you say about the notch for the wiper switch can be true... I don't recall. The 71 cluster I got from ebay got a variable speed with it, and I kept it to convert my 74 on variable speed control ( not originally optioned on 72/74 ) when I get the 3 speeds motor.
BUT initially I CUT and modified a 2 speeds STANDARD CLUSTER wiper switch ( which as you said is way longer ), to make it fit on the rallye cluster ( rallye cluster stuff is not available locally ). I don't remember if I had to make the notch on housing or remove the key on switch, or it was enough clearence to fit it, no matter if tight.
Then found a 74 bezel with switches icons, and installed on the 71 cluster, then reinstalled the 71 variable switch since by that moment finally got a 3 speeds wiper motor. What I did is change the plugs for it. THANKS GOD, the 71 cluster also got attached the pigtails LOL so didn't need to find those plugs ;)
IF THE NOTCH DEAL MAKES A DIFFERENCE, then the 71 housing could be a diff piece from the rest just for the unexistant notch for wiper switch... unless it was a small mod made on factory when assembly. Not a big deal though.
I have a doubt, maybe a little bit of topic. There was 2 speeds, variable speed and 3 speeds switches on 71 making a 3 options in total ? or just 2 speeds and variable ? what I know they were 3 options for the wiper function, but I can be wrong
BTW AND FOR THE TOPIC... HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS THE SAME FOR STANDARD AND RALLYE ( all 3 rallyes )

Lots of good info for cluster swaps.
I'd been trying to figure out the clock/tach thing, and thought I had it down to years.
Guess not.
Seems like an awful lot of work, and inventory (not to mention labor and general non-cost effectiveness) to have so many different configurations.
Is not that hard, just that maybe how I explained it, looks to be LOL. ( english is not my mother language )
