I'm buying a 73 Aztec charger coupe for my 16 year old daughter I know very little about the aztec package I was wandering if anybody her can tell me production numbers on coupes verses the se cars and I'm sure a 318 auto is comon with air and such but it has a weird stripe on it and I personally never seen a coupe with this package and a buddy whom has had like 300 chargers over the years has never seen one either I hate useing the word (rare) unless ordering a steak but is it truely as rare as he says it is????????????????

I wouldn't say it's rare. Unusual maybe. Looks like it has the standard interior. Aztec would be the color I assume. Don't think they made a lot of them. Looks like a good car to start with though.

I cant answer your question but ill bet that was a beauty when new.. That interior is great looking!

Those cars typically were dealer packages. There was also a Sidewinder Satellite. Obviously, those were out of the southwest area. There were others I am sure from other areas of the country.

I have been finding this out from my sources but as stated almost all I or they have seen were se cars in 73-74 but have never seen a coupe not to say weren't built found one as in pics but back to ? How many could be made as coups

exactly what they were. just like the Dart Western Sport Specials .... there is no code on the fender tag other than the color(s). its just a stripe and stickers. once you sand it off there is no way to know it was there. there is no rarity in it . the color Aztec Gold , i think it was , is just another color. there was a thread here or another site explaining all this, i cant seem to find it now

First thx roadrunner man but I know some details on these and as far as the aztec package only two colors one is this copper/gold other is egg shell white and they were predominately for the south west but were a dealer only order item so any dealer could get them ill have original window sticker and build sheet and such for this car plus its a 3 owner car so I can get all info and bad part is daughter wants to paint it purple

Yes but it was also the seats not just a stripe and no gold wasn't just the color its the whole package

There's a member on here who has an Aztec Charger. Can't remember who, but if you search "Aztec" in the 71-74 section, you'll find him. He'd be the one to ask about it- his car is absolutely amazing.

Found him. His forum name is MRHWS. His car:

I wouldn't say they aren't rare. Rear simply means there ain't many of um......and certainly, if they all magically reappeared today there still would not be that many, because there weren't many to begin with. So I think there is rarity there. Whether they are worth anything more would be up to the market to decide. I imagine most were slants or 318s because all the performance cars already had appearance packages all their own. As far as cool factor, I personally think they are through the roof. I love different stuff.

Looks like the same thing Plymouth did in 1974 with the Sundance Satellite. They are rare, but I've never known them be that desirable as everyone I've seen came with a 318.

What would a "Sundance Satellite" look like? I'm curious as I've told some friends the story of when I was very young a guy at our church drove a 71-74, white, with softball size stickers of the sun across the roof, down the side and towards the front. Starsky and Hutch style (sorry for the comparison). I never saw another ever and no one I've asked knows what it is. I just gave up, thinking now that it might have been some local dealer package.

Ah-Ha! Just found it. Thanks for the tip, you've solved a 37 year old mystery for me.

Some of the senior management must have been spending way too much time in Mexico, working on the labor deal.

...my daughter wants me to paint it purple

Well you've got the right car. You can't paint any other car Purple, or Pink, or Sassy Grass Green... etc. Paint it purple and become Dad Of The Year!

Yeah, that Sundance Satellite looks like it was inspired by a l'il Acapulco Gold. Can't resist posting one of the finest comedy scenes...

I meant the Myan/Inca influence....

...but those seat inserts look like a set from "three's company" (or maybe Mrs. Roper's dress)

There are two 318 SE cars down in my area.

One solid but with hideous hand made door panels, the other with beautiful OEM replacement quarters, but with rotted cowl and wood blocks supporting the K frame

OMG those seats... are off the hook. Can't decide if I hate them or love them.
