What do you call your clone?

I guess the only clone I have is a 426W that will look like a 440 6 BBL but that's just a byproduct of a bunch of parts lying around. I have been telling people it's my old 426 from the 80's but that leads to a discussion as to how it ended up in a 69 RR.

interesting thread. some of the car guys at work have asked me the same thing, "what is it/what do you call it?" it's not as complicated with the old iron, It's a "64 Dodge 2 door post". If they know enough to ask about the Hemi, 4 speed, and dana; "It's a resto-mod".

Really don't care. Cool Mopars are just that. A few years ago people started asking,"is that a real R/T? Yes it is. A relatively new question. There are a lot of cool Mopars on here that didn't start out as what they are now. Does not matter.

I didn't clone my car, I bought it as a clone. There was no way in hell I was going to be able to afford a GTX. I got laid off from work while I was looking for a car. So I consider myself LUCKY I have any Mopar! It's not like buyin a chevy. Most people that have seen my car just know it as a gtx so if I were to be talking to them about it and I said satellite sport they wouldn't know what I was talking about. It's just easier to call it the gtx. Sometimes I just call it a 68' plymouth. Other than the vin/fender tag it's closer to being a gtx than it is a SS. Sorry if it offends anybody but I don't have deep pockets. I'm a Mopar lover on a Yugo budget. I drive the wheels off it, even if it was a rare #'s car I would, then some of the die hards would complain about that. I didn't go without to park my car in the garage and look at it. When I bring my car to cruises/shows I know what the purists are thinking, but ya know what I don't give a flying F. IT'S MINE AND I LOVE IT!!!

I call my Belvedere Ho.....it's a Ho man! Mine won't be any clone no matter what I do to it because it's a 66 2dr sedan. I guess I could put a Hemi in it and say it's a real Hemi car but that's not going to happen....

Right on brother... We only pass this way once.. We/the cars will too soon be dust/rust...if a clone is all you can afford and it puts a smile on your face "fender tag slave, car purity mentality" be damned...use it up, wear it out, rebuild it and do it again, the way you like it..

I played the numbers game for a long time. you talk about people ripping it apart worse than if it was cloned. date code this, incorrect that , screw you buddy , just enjoy it for what it is. afraid to even drive the thing. those days are long gone for me. i would rather just hot rod the hell out of what i have and enjoy the scenery. lifes too short to worry about whether its an XP or XS , a G or a U code

Absolutely agree with this^^^^... the numbers dorks that run down others cars need to get a life. It's a car.... if cloning or non matching numbers or nonoriginal equipment all bother you, then you need to get a life.... or at least another hobby....

Right on, one of my biggest goals for my Charger when it's done is to drive the hell out of it, I want to take it everywhere when weather permits. That's why the first upgrade will be either a T56 or TKO600 "freeway cruising Babey".

I've seen some damn nice Mopars that are I guess technically clones. Several that I wouldn't mind owning myself. As long as whoever owns the car isn't misrepresenting the car when they sell it, I couldn't care less. I some ways a clone is more attractive to me because you don't have to be as careful with it. If it gets stolen or crashed, just build another one.

Who say's it's not a Road Runner? Does it say Road Runner on it? It's a Road Runner. How about the cars that have 95% of the parts replaced but the correct VIN, they call it original. I say Bull ****. Who cares? If you want to sell it, I'd be honest, If someone asked me if it was factory built, I'd be honest. But I'd still call it a Road Runner. Who died and left someone in charge saying the factory had to build it to be real? Enjoy it.

Future "real" 68 charger, not be be confused with a clone...also the wrecked "real" roadrunner could probably be saved if it wasn't for all the damn cloners taking all the good parts for their clones.....and when the clones are all parked at the show it takes away from the exclusivity of the real ones because they all look so much alike...

Man this thread has gone way overboard. Get a grip folks there is no need to be hating on clones, satellites, coronet's or whatever. And there is equally no need to be hating on folks who have VINs that indicate Road Runners, Superbee's, GTX, R/T's or whatever. They're all what they are and are all Mopars. There is nothing wrong with having a car and being proud of what it is, now matter what it is. If it's got a badge car VIN with a bunch of codes, or or something else built to look like it was. It is fine to be proud of it and not be ashamed to be proud of it. I'm not saying anyone in this thread is ashamed of anything but if someone is proud of their numbers there is no reason to have any issue with that. I'm also certain than the folks in this thread would never misrepresent a clone as something other than what it is if they are selling, but have every reason to be proud of what they have.

Apologies for the rant.

WOW that is about the worst 68-70 b-body carnage I think I've ever seen. It looks like the front end was in a Supersize trash compactor. Must have been a head on. Hope not someone you knew.

pic was 1968 Roadrunner 100 mph into a bridge in Nanuet NY in 1968...not someone i knew, but a terrible waste nonetheless..
