One large oval hole flows more than two round ones. These were usually available in 950 and 1050 CFM sizes.

Pretty collectible, and worked good for their time. Then along came things like the Dominator and it outdated it

i've run them before back in the day. drive surprisingly well, easy to tune. parts are becoming hard to come by.

I had one on my Racecar for a while - worked good. I got an aftermarket metering plate (secondary) with removeable jets for better tuning and put a new removeable top diaphram for easier spring replacement.

Ad says:

"Offered for sale is a super rare dated (August 1969) HOLLEY 982 List 4604- S = 1030CFM

These carbs for built for one year only (1969) for NASCAR, YENKO, BALDWIN MOTION, NICKEY,429 BOSS , HEMI cars alike.
Some drag racers used them back in the day also.
This carb is in excellent condition and even has a new rebuild kit with it.
Been sitting in a cardboard box for years and no use for it.
Rare part for your muscle car."

1200 bucks worth it and is this ad correct? I remember a couple of guys talking about them back in the day but never knew they were offered as the ad says....

Looks bad ***. I would try it, but not for 1200.

Yes ! I'm not sure about one year only, though. I lived in the area back then & we used to go to Baldwin to check out the Phase 3 cars at Motion. They'd guarantee you 11 second cars for X amount of $$$. I remember the oddball carb, it was supposed to be something like 950 cfm ?

I'm sure a carb dated 1969 was a one year only. :) The 3-bbls were made for many more years than that, starting around 1967 and going through the 70's. You'll see them every week on ebay, they're not uncommon. And usually for less than half the price of this, but also usually the 950 cfm size.

I'm just happy I've seen one now. Heard about them for years but had never seen one

Sounds just like the one I have. Mine is a 1030 and the most distinguishing feature is the lack of booster venturis in the secondary. Instead the 1030 uses dump tubes kind of like a TQ.

I had one back in the day on my raysoncraft v drive boat w/ 440. I should have kept holley and other rare stuff.it tuned well even with 320 duration isky cam and high comp pistons and 915 heads. cant belive im still standin, barely.

Just an FYI, Carter also made a 3bbl. Carb. Those I have not yet seen. Maybe, one day I'll see one and actually have some money to purchase one. I would love to try one out for Ha-ha's.
Until then, I'll have to settle with the 1,000 CFM TQ unit.

You would laugh if I told you what I imagined before when people discussed 3 BBL carbs before this thread ha ha! Or actually I'm sure you have a pretty good idea !!

Imagine 3 tubes LOL.

I would love to have one of these things now although I doubt I ever will unless I stumble upon a good deal or pick one up in a car purchase or something.
