Elvis, died 36 years ago today in Memphis

Black velvet, baby!

I worked with a old guy in the early 80's and he use to say "things haven't been worth a dam since Elvis died." I was in my early 20's and I thought he was crazy but now that I'm older I'm starting to think he was right.

My wife and I visited Graceland on this day in 1990....then it was the 13th anniversary of Elvis' passing. Huge crowds, and it was quite by chance we visited that very day.. Got a chance to speak with one of Elvis' elderly Uncles....that was neat - he was signing memorabilia in a tent across the road. The next day we went to the House of Cash, and met Johnny's Mother - she signed the visitor souvenir booklet for us on her own picture.

RIP Elvis.

Neat video Elvis returns.

I took my wife to Graceland in 1991 and we met Vester Presley Vernon's brother also. I think back on it now and it was pretty neat.

Elvis isn't dead. I just spoke to him a couple weeks ago when he beemed me up into his spaceship. By the way he is a big Alabama fan. I would have never guessed it.

The better half and I took our 16 year old daughters to Memphis last summer and we had a blast. It was a total immersion in Elvis. The girls, who I don't think had ever seen an Elvis movie or seen him sing, or even heard very many of his songs ... Loved it! We did Graceland of course, which was cool, we did the other exhibits across the street and stayed just down the road, walking distance to graceland. The hotel played Elvis Movies 24/7 on close circuit TV and we watched them all weekend when we weren't out and doing the sites. When we got home I downloaded all the Elvis TV specials and we watched those too.
