A couple months ago I purchased a new set of Mickey Thompson S/T Radial tires (235/60-15) for my Coronet, and noticed today that one has cracks in it's sidewall right near the edge of the rim.
Has anyone else had problems with Mickey Thompsons?

There's a date code on the tires, you can find out how old they are and see if age has anything to do with it. I think it's like 8 to 10 years and they should be replaced. Where did you buy them?

Discount Tire is where I bought them from. I plan to drive over there in the morning for them to order in a replacement.
I just think it's pathetic that a new tire has issues like this, and was wondering if anyone else is having issues with this brand of tire.

I'm on my second set of M/Ts. No problems with mine.

Likewise, I'm running two sets of MT S/T 225/70R-15 and a set of 275/60R-15 and have not noticed any cracks.

Thanks for the input guys, it's good to hear that you're not having issues with yours.

Yeah, I checked the manufacture date, it was December 2012. They are not old tires. I'm thinking maybe the guy that mounted this particular tire on the rim screwed up and damaged it.

Yeah, that's not old at all... unless they had them sitting outside in the sun for a year. That's just weird for that to happen. Mind are still good and I've had them for a while now - even road raced with them. Good luck to you!

Still waiting for a replacement tire from Mickey Thompson. Apparently they won't have any available until mid-November.

Glad your getting a replacement tire so quick. I'm been waiting since July for a tire from Goodyear. Last person said November.

Yeah, that's pathetic to have to wait that long! I bought Goodyear tires for many, many years, but when they quit producing GTII's I wrote Goodyear off. I'm very disappointed in Goodyear! But ironically I'm not overly happy with Mickey Thompson right now.
Good luck with getting your tire.

That's why I buy bfg's. Also, it's a personal preference.

I have been running the MT S/T raised white letters in 215/70/15 and 275/60/15 and no issues for 3 yrs and a few thousand miles.

My last car had some new BFG Radial T/A's that I bought in 2010 and right out of the box one of the tires had a side-wall bulge the size of a 50-cent piece. Must have been a molding defect, but I'm surprised they didn't catch it.

I've had four or five sets of BFG T/A's through the years, and they were good tires. I decided to go with the M/T's mainly because they have a higher speed rating than the BFG T/A's.

Damn, how fast are ya wanting to go?

I used to bust tires way back when. It's not hard to tear one on a machine if you're not paying attention. Your assesment is probably not far from the truth.

When comparing tire specs. and prices between the BFG's and M/T's I noticed the M/T's had a higher speed rating and cost less, so I thought I'd give them a try.
